Official Election 2008 thread

McCain is gaining.

U.S. President - Electoral College
Obama (D) - 175
McCain (R) - 61
270 votes needed for presidency

I find it very irritating how the media will call a state when less than 10% of that state have been counted. When all the votes are counted, then decide who won.

They're already calling Ohio for Obama, and saying McCain now has no chance at all. Seems like our votes no longer count.

FYI, 90% of washington voted by absentee or early voting ballet this year... I think it will be 100% next time...

RIP... September 17, 1787 - November 4, 2008.

Lord help us all.......

This is true, but again, what do the votes from Washington state matter when all the winner needs is some key states back east.

The winner needs states out here too... they are just doing projections and the like based upon the last election. Most states don't switch back and forth between R and D... so the ones that do tend to become more important....

Don't think about it too hard... and dangit, don't you have like an hour left to vote?

The only good thing that I can see is that it doesn't look like the Dems are going to get 60 in the Senate. If that had happened we would really be screwed.

This almost sounds like a shock to everyone. The sky is not falling. The Constitution is not going to be invalid.

Come on, I understand dissappointment, but what about those Republicans 4 years ago saying we need to support the President. If Obama wins, ya'll need to support him, just like you have been preaching to the Democrats.

ok, first off.
The news people ALWAYS call winners early.
They are sometimes wrong, but usually correct.
The final electoral count won't be done till tomorrow night.

I did notice something interesting.
On fox they broke down the states by county.
Counties that had large population centers voted Obama, rural and country areas voted Republican. You would see 75% of the state for McCain, yet Obama wins. Popular vote can be funny. It doesn show the hardest working parts of the country vote conservative.

Something else that is interesting.
All the talking heads are stunned.
Obama isn't running away with the election. They just don't get it.
The popular vote is extremely close so far.
I don't doubt Obama will win at this point, but it sure isn't going to be a blow out.

Oh I voted a week ago. Still seems the west coast states matter so little compared to them eastern states. I aint thinking too hard about it, it's snowing here so that's keeping my mind together!

Depends.
If he walks in and adopts Palosi's agenda, we will see the chit hit the fan. If he openly opposes her, I will take a more wait and see approach. Till then, he is a left wing nut job that is going to gut the economy. If he passes his amnesty deal under the current immigration rules, there will be serious trouble.
