Ok, no preaching, no defending here. Let's let the numbers speak for them selves.

Does any one know how many have been lost so far this winter season. That is skiers, boarders, sledders. We sat on our sleds at lunch today trying to count and we lost track. This is beyond crazy!!!!

we were thinking 15 in BC and maybe as many as 10 in the US. FAR TOO MANY. so what's the accurate number?

i can tell you that alot of people that arn't on snowest or research avalanches before they go don't even have a clue that they are in danger. i know this first hand.

This is one of the 3 in MT yesterday. All of them unneeded.

Add a twenty-two year old boy on Mt Jefferson (Idaho/Montana line) yesterday the 17th. This is within sight of Nemesis, where the incident from "A Dozen More Turns" occured. Two (or three???) there this year so far.

I spent Saturday scooping snow off the roof of my small cabin the snow was only about 3 feet deep but it is truly amazing how heavy settled snow really is. The stuff slabbed off just as it would in an avy, I could see the different layers and all. Of course I shoveled myself into a corner and ended up sliding off on the last 4 ft square of snow, luckily I had a nice pile to land in.
Most people just don't know the dangers and it's most tragic for the ones that are left behind for sure.... Too bad dealers are not required to include some kind of avalanche info brouchure when they sell a sled, it may just make someone think twice??
