(From my former town's online paper. Note to self: don't mace dogs, it just pizzes them off. Oh, stand up-wind too.
WILLMAR — At least two community service officers with the Willmar Police Department suffered the consequences of mace while trying to subdue two pit bull dogs that had bitten two young boys.
The incident was reported at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Southeast Second Street when two young boys were bitten by two dogs described as pit bulls. The injuries were not serious.
During attempts by officers to apprehend the dogs, the animals broke a net. When the officers had the dogs cornered, they sprayed the animals with mace.
The mace didn’t affect the animals, but wind blew the chemicals into the faces of two of the five officers who were on the scene. The dogs escaped and it’s not known if they were eventually caught.
The dog’s owner was contacted and stated the animals were up to date with their shots.
