oem pistons or wiseco

OEM kits on ebay with all gaskets for $285.... Hard to beat.... 3000 miles plus on my OEM and I wouldn't risk what I know works....

Used to like the cast oem till you send all the broken pieces thru the turbo and spend the money to fix it, weld the hole in the case and replace the rod piston and dome too.. or.. go forged wich do not explode or break into pieces.

Been running wisecos out of the box for 6 yrs without a single issue..drop them in and go

ELI installed a set in his d8 and ended his piston issues too..

I'm not saying they are perfect,,, but they do not explode like a casting..

For my money,, the piston needs to NOT destroy the engine and turbo when the inevitable failure occurs,, lets face it, wear and deto happen,,we try to avoid it but it happens..
you dont buy a bb gun to protect your home ? go forged mho.

Good logic on that, might put a set of forged pistons in once these OEM ones get close to being toast.

i have put tons of wiseco pistons in they do not break apart when they burn down but they are way more sensitive to temp and wear only get a season out of them if lucky, i have put tons of stock pistons in also and they go forever i have been running same pistons for 4 seasons now on 10 to 12 lbs of boost no problem and they take big temp changes better then wiseco but thats just my experience

Personally I feel that one difference in when the siezecos are ideal is in a more controlled situation. Someone who is anal about warmup, or in a racing situation where it's run the same way every time...

On the other hand I've seen wisecos seize in the middle of a big pull on a motor that had been warm for 45 min & had been together for 2 years. Never found any other reason for it.
