OEM or Wiseco Pistons?????

Ok so im trying to free up my confusion. You go look for aftermarket pistons like wiseco and everyone says you dont need aftermarket pistons on a 08 700 just use the oem to many problems with the wisecos expanding to fast and seize up. Then I look for what to use for oem dual or single ring and everyone says dont use oem they are junk. Well come on you guys whos had good luck with oem and bad and who has had good luck with wisecos and of course bad. ive got just about 3000 miles on the pistons now. Thanks for good and bad news

The 700's run great with OEM. You got 3,000 out of your OEM's, right, why not stick with what worked for you.

Ya 3000 on the oem thats pretty good i thought. I just stress way to much sometimes.

SH, You should be pretty safe staying with the oem piston and I believe the bigger concern is just making sure the piston to cylinder wall clearance is the major concern and Polaris has been known to have some under sized pistons compared to what the factory advertised size Clarence specs. I have seen this in some 700 pistons but more commonly in the 800's.

Some people either like the aftermarket wiseco pistons and others don't since they are a forged piston but to be honest they always tend to be with in the tolerance specs as mentioned above. It is hard to deny what works and if you have got 3000 miles out of your original pistons then you are doing ok but I have heard of others who have got 5-6000 miles out of them with the 700's.

As long as your cylinder wall clearance to the piston is good either piston brand is fine but the wiseco requires a little longer warm up then the oem but they both can obviously still have a cold seize in either case. If you had a 800 CFI I would tell you to check out the mtntk fix it kit that uses the wiseco piston and it has directly taken care of the piston concerns on these engines.

Exactly^

Make sure you send those cylinders off to get re plated to the proper clearance specs of whatever piston you decide to go with. Send them your new pistons.
