Obama declares that it's time to fix health care

"Our deficits will be higher. Our premiums will go up. Our wages will be lower, our jobs will be fewer, and our businesses will suffer."

Summed up his plans in one sentence....

Even his own party is starting to question what the heck is going on.
Obama may not need to worry about getting re-elected in just over a year, but a lot of dems (exspecially blue dog conservative dems, yes there are some) are starting to balk at his spending. That is why he stepped up and told the house and senate to reign in spending.

I guess he doesn't like the competition.

I just told a good friend of mine I hate him...but it is still an understatement for me!

something needs changed.otherwise it will end being 1000 a month for a single person and youll get 50 pages of crap they wont cover.

I heard him on the radio this afternoon saying that 20 percent of the people used 90 percent of the health care and he said that someone overweight for instance would be a liability for diabetis and such so they would be a liability to ever one else in a health plan. Well I have got news for that prick, it is still a free country for, now at least and if I want to be fat I will damn well be fat!
F HIM AND THE CAMEL HE RODE IN ON TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't insurance socialized already though?

I mean, I am paying money for insurance, so is my employer. I rarely go to the doctor or anything, so out of my 4.5k costs a year for my plan and I only use 300 bucks, where does the rest go?

It goes to profit and to other people that use more in benefits then they pay into the system. Seems like insurance is already there to me. The costs are spread out to all payers. Same with health, life, auto, you name it.. That is the point of insurance, isn't it? Spread out the costs to make them less on an individual?

Then please stop going to the doctor.. I am sick of paying for your fat arse! :p

Gosh, another entitlement program. What a great idea. It is not like the other entitelments have grown into huge inefficient monsters. Why would this one be any differerent? After all, this is the same outfit that brought us 600 dollar hammers and the IRS. I wonder if they can provide service on par with the DMV...Goodie... I say make anything but catastophic insurance policies illegal. That way consumers see the real cost. Lawyers don't have a deep pocket to sue. Market forces drive physician pay, and the need for exorbitant malpractice insurance goes away. Don't have enough money for health care? Too bad, get a job.

BTW, I am presently unemployed and I still have more faith in myself and don't need any help from my government.

It is a sad day when people lose this faith and need baby sitting.

It's like any other insurance system. My wife is a teacher. We have extended medical so Blue Cross pays for extras but you have to submit. FOr the first 15 years, we never submitted a penny. Once someone told me what to do, we started. Now it's good for about $2000.00 per year to cover the costs of glasses, chiropractor visits, contacts etc.

My little brother is a hypochondriac. He has more holes in him from , in my opinion, unecsassary operations. The more you see the Dr. the sicker you get.

My Dad told me one thing. He said " The secret to a good life is dying with the same number of holes that you were born with. no operations, no gunshots, no piercings.

Funny thing Ruffy, I don't think I have been to the doctor five times in my 70 years.

I figured that..

So what do you guys think about my statement that it is already socialized, and that is the way insurance works. Agree / disagree?

I would bet that Wolfrun has been paying insurance for quite a while now. Someone got the money and used it, but it wasn't him.

Agree. But it would be a very bad idea for the government to take over. On so many levels. I personally don't want my paycheck to come from the government AND my retirement AND my Health care AND...the list goes on. What does that do?...It makes you into biotches for the government. If our lives get too tied up in government programs, will we have the courage to rise up when we see injustice? People didn't in the Soviet Union. One party systems are dangerous. Sound familiar? Socialization/Marxism? sound familiar? Who is going to stand up for civil liberties...like public land use when we are to afraid to loose our pensions, pay, care etc???? sound familiar?

My last visit to a doctor, other than eyes, was in 1967. I did pay 350.00 to 400.00 insurance for the family in the mid to eighties, when my daughter came up with anorexia they paid not a dime of the 28,000.00 it finally cost me so I convinced my eye doctor it was time to get my cornea transplants in 1990. Funny thing they tried to get out of paying, said the policy did not cover transplants but the surgeon pointed out it is not an organ transplant and they were stuck. Once that was done I cancelled and bought no more insurance. BUT I am now covered Part B medicare so keep paying in cause I am going to go in for a complete physyical and find out what it is like.

Swampy:D:beer;

I agree but that is as close to socialism as I want to get. My wife was a school teacher so we were covered by her insurance until she retired and then I bought a 10,000 deductable policy for cheap for 4 years till I was old enough for medicare. The school policies would have cost so much less if they could have used high deductable policies but if those teachers got a hang nail they wanted it fixed and wanted it paid for. Just think what a government run policy would be like

hmm swampy I didn't have you pegged for the medicare type.

Haven't been following close but I don't want the gov touching my insurance, be it nationalizing or taxing my benefits I get.

There's a reason I work in the medical field....and it's not cause I like working with sick people...it's the insurance I get.

THey wanted change aNd they got it. o yeah you guys need some bale outs cause we have about 400 billion laying around obama is a dumB A$$ MONEY DOESNT FIX everything. and giving free health care would turn ower hospitals to sh8t holes.

fools

if you own a house or any other assets you must have insurance....otherwise a collection agency will take your stuff to pay your hospital bill....Insurance companies take advantage of this fact and are charging outrageous rates, limit coverage, deny coverage....we are the fish in their barrel.....There's no way to have an equitable insurance system when the goal of the insurance people is obscene profiteering.....How much of your premium actually goes for health care vs buying buildings for insurance companies? If you never needed insurance your lucky so far, if you think you'll never need it your stupid....go out and buy your own insurance like I do, being self employed, and you'll see that a family of 4 is gonna get hit for $1200/month.....I pay $515/month and I'm single with a 19 year old kid....$2000 deductable.....my buddy that fixes hot tubs for $20/hour pays $800/month for his wife and kid....they are barely makin' it......pull your heads out and get a clue....we are being reamed and they own the gov't....how long ya gonna take it?

think

think about this....when I first got the exact same policy in 1992 it was $100/mo....now $515.....does an office visit cost 5 times as much? are you making more $?

The problem with insurance companies are that it's all one big pot of money paying for everything. Have a hurricane go through and the insurance company is cutting cheques. THey should collect money from types of policies and the money collected pays for claims against that issuance. The company collects 100 million for health care premiums, has to pay out 80 million in claims brought on by something other than health care issues and there's 20 mil left to cover the costs the premiums were supposed to cover. Tie premium costs to risk and payout. If the company pays 100's of millions for car accidents, it better be collectin 100's of millions from drivers holding policies.
