Obama Asks for Patience on Economy, Unemployment

The demo's will start pretending to care in order to maintain their seat next year, then it'll be 2 more years of in the toilet and racking up debt that our kids are going to have to pay for.

Democrats are just gullable enough to buy into their typical political pep talks that it'll work too. Look how many voted for "change", they don't beleive in "if it's too good to be true it probably is". He has all these wonderful plans and dreams about how the world should be, yeah, we would all like to see world peace, no unemployment, free healthcare, no taxes, etc.... but come on.... is it really possible???

Hence my statement:
Instead of the employer paying an illegal $6 - 8 an hour he pays a US citizen, then the US govt. supplements that wage, INSTEAD of the govt. paying people a full wage NOT to work they can pay part of the wage and get them TO work. Thereby getting them on the tax roles, thereby lowering unemployment, reducing govt. expenditures on welfare and foodstamps. Hmmmm is that what's referred to as a Win - Win scenario?

Once again I would rather tax dollars supplement a wage for a citizen than having cash under the table for an illegal or paying welfare to someone to NOT work. AND it's not that Americans are too lazy but they can get paid more to sit on their arses with welfare and foodstamps.

I understand now. I misunderstood before. Thats a good idea.

I dont know why unemployment is so high. I have had help wanted ads online, and ive hardly gotten any decent applications. There are businesses all around me hiring. I know most of these jobs arent the highest paying or most galmorous, but it is a job. I bet if we got rid of unemployment checks and welfare, more people would get jobs. Why should someone work for $10.00 an hour when they can make the same, if not more, collecting unemployment. I just dont see why some people dont have a job when the are so many places hiring.

This is a bit myopic. I do agree there has been a shift in work ethic, but I believe hard times will change this. The problem is I lost my job on April 1. Happy April fools day. I am starting my new job on monday making several times the minimum wage and I am thankful. You have to understand. Engineers, Chemists, Programmers etc. did not spend 4 to 8 years busting there butts in college to work next to a bunch of crack heads making pizza. There is only one way to create wealth. You have to use natural resources, apply knowlege and work to create a product of value that will either be consumed or be used to create more products or increase efficiency. Period. Service industry jobs can not sustain an economy. It is just moving money around until inefficiencies in the system dries it up. The problem does not lie solely with the employer or employee. Certainly both have to step up to compete in the globalized ecconomy. Simply put American companies can only stay in business if their costs are below what people are willing to pay for goods. If india can turn a profit while providing the same product and a lower cost, good bye american jobs. This will require innovation and hard work on our part. But....if the government keeps insisting on unrealistic environmental standards like cap and trade and keeps throwing useless obsticles in business' paths, is it a wonder that they give up and move the factories over seas? China and India don't play by the same rules and guess what? Their people were educated here.

Just something to think about when we vote for higher energy costs, universal health care, and an isolationist view of diplomacy.

starting in the 80's people started getting paid stupid high wages.
Everything went up.
minimum wages were raised that further raised the expectations of the masses.
Childeren were raised during the boom years of the late 80's and thru the 90's.
Everyone wanted jobs that would allow them to sit at computers and make 100k a year.
No one wanted to get their hands dirty.
Illigals were granted amnesty back in 1986 with the promise that they would crack down on the hiring of illigals, seal the boarder, blah blah blah. Same BS they are pushing now. However, big buisness had a hard time finding people willing to work and get dirty.
As more and more illigals were hired, legal workers (both US citizens and legal immigrants) were forced out. companies wouldn't hire them because they could hire illigals for half the price.
This forced legal workers out of the labor markets and into higher tech jobs in an attempt to make a living. This worked and worked good during the computer boom.
However, now things have gone bust. Tech jobs are gone. They have gone overseas or been eliminated.
The work force is being re-aligned and more people are looking for any job they can get including and expecially skilled labor jobs. They pay less than they should because of the illigal compent, but it is still decent pay.

Anyone that says illigals are no problem, is blind or naive.
There are just over 8 million people out of work that can't find work.
There are just over (estimated) 7 million illigals holding jobs.
Do the math.

There are 2 bills currently in washington that would cure both the illigal problem and the unemployment problem. Too bad the dem leadership has refused to bring them up for a vote and bo has said he would veto them anyways.

Actually the president in 1998 solved global warming...It was the warmest on record. Since then the climate has been cooling...

Bo even admitted back in march that if his stimulus bill hasn't acheived major results by the end of August, he and the dems that voted for pork-u-lus would be in trouble in the 2010 election.

Ya it can, and it will. Question is how long is it going to hurt and how long will America remember?

You want to see what is about to happen.
Just look back at the Carter years.
Everyone wanted change.
They gave the dems control of the House, Senate and the Presidency.
They went on a tax and spend campaign. Same as this time.
It is MUCH worse this time however.

It cost them the control of the house and senate for 30 years.

All the poll numbers are showing that people are waking up.
Bo's numbers are dropping like a stone. Even compared to other past presidents numbers, it is getting worse at an unbelievable rate.
People are admiting that bo is MUCH more liberal then they thought he would be.
More people disapprove of the job he is doing than approve of it.

Now if you look at the house.
Palosi is the most hated politician in washington.
Reid in the senate is close behind.

We only have to hang on for 6 more months.
If we can stop government health care and amnesty, we can stop the whole thing.
In 6 months the campaigning will begin for the 2010 elections.
At that point the dems will be trying to move to the center and convince people that everything they did was smart and good.
It won't work.

I just hope we have candidates that I can actually vote for and support.
I am tired of voting for the lesser of 2 evils.

if bo would have taken that 787 billion and divided it in to the tax paying US citizens and then only allowed you to spend that money on american made stuff (not much is) or let you used it to pay your debt off, i think that would have had more of an effect then giving huge amounts to the auto makers.

im so pissed off at how this nation is run i dont even know where to start talking! all they like to do is just put a band aid on it and push it under the rug for awhile and see what happens. none of them actually want to step up put in the elbow greese to actually come up with a solution to the problem. these big companies also have the Politicians wrapped around their fingers so moving their companies to a 3rd world country to get their goods made at a fraction of the cost and selling them to us for twice its worth is complety ok and nothing is said about it. if the goverment gave 2 sh!ts about us they would stop everything from leaving or coming across the boards and make us all buy from american and sell to americans. to keep circulating our own money instead of giving it to some one else and then asking other countries for help because we pissed in our own cheerios and have nothing left!

Here's a classic, I have a guy that works for me making about $8 an hour (kitchen help) has girlfriend that has 4 kids, 2 of them his. Girlfriend is a knuckle head (i had to fire her because of incompetence) and is going to school on the taxpayer's nickel. So he comes in every morning and brings a grocery sack with a big F'n steak and cooks it for breakfast, well the other day he brings in crab legs as "I'm pretty burned out on steak", he's buying it all with the food stamps, burns my a$$ as I budget so I can pay all my bills, feed my family and "live the dream".

Better idea, imo, would have been to do exactly what they said they were going to do.
Spend it on rebuilding our crumbling infastruture.
They should have started with the electrical systems.
How many nuke plants could they have built?
How many miles of new/more efficient electrical lines could they have run?
How many aging and falling apart transformers could they have replaced?

I didn't like the pork-u-lus bill to begin with, but had they put it towards what they said they were going to spend it on, imo, they would have been alright. Instead, they spend it to repair toilets and build dog parks.
