O.K. no B.S. please

hi
the problem with comparing the bike to a snowmobile is the water factor in sleds the may have spikes beacause of the amount of snow and water in the belly pan and the stater is not sealed with a cover it is open

that all i was saying

Jim, got ya on the difference, I just don't understand why there would be a difference from just running less voltage? I don't really understand stators so I'm not claiming to know the right answer here, I just don't get why less used voltage is an issue.

The ecu thing made sense to me, but a stator whose power is not completely used seems odd that it would be damaged? Can anyone explain the why on that?

I do run an EGT on my sleds, but that's the only electronics I have (stock guage also), no handwarmers, I run a finger throttle which trashes the right warmer pretty much right away & I just don't use the other one.

so the stator puts out the same voltage all the time so if you are not using the power some times it can blow up other things like the ccu or on the older m7 sleds with out the ccu it takes out the computer so if you were not running headlights speedo or anything else it could spike the max input on the ccu
may not happen but with all the wireing problems on the sled it may not be worth the chance
but once agian it is very rare that you would have a problem on a 07 of newer sled with the ccu

I get that, I just don't see how, since the ecu's are safe on the newer sleds, how it harms the stator itself.
