I have a friend buying a 2011 Nytro XTX and he wants to put exhaust on it and he is wondering what is the best brand to go with. He wants H.P. gains but not extremly loud. What gives good power gains but still sounds good. He will be riding at sea level. Thanks

Look into the Hindle systems for the nytro. Full Exhaust and rapid bike fuel controller they are seeing around 20hp gains. Lee @ Hindle makes excellent exhausts and Hurricane performance in Ontario has mapping for the rapid bike.

Greg @ Sno Pro in Rosetown Sask. ran this system last year on his Nytro XTX and ran it against low boost kit from P.A. and ran dead even. Ran same clutching as 180 hp low boost kits. Give him a call if you have any questions ( he is a Yamaha dealer )as to how the system works. Tell him Darren sent you and maybe he will buy me a beer.

tunnel dump. it frees up some space for fuel jug or something. skinz makes one or fab one out of a different muffler

Here's some good choices. Check the prices - I put this list together last year so things may have changed. I have the SuperQ and like it. The UltraQ is a little quieter - sometimes I wish I had stock volume Ultra but there are times when the extra volume of the SuperQ is cool. The SuperQ isn't one of those really loud pipes but it does put out more volume than stock or the UltraQ.

I'm pretty sure (not certain) that Tom Hartman's product is a re-branded SuperQ.

Seems like others have had good success with most of the other brands.

Skinz SuperQ Exhaust (+ 3-4hp) = -7.5 lbs @ $249.00
Skinz UltraQ Exhaust (+ 3-4hp) = -7.5 lbs @ $289.00

Ulmer Racing Exhaust + Header (+ 8hp) = -8 lbs @ $850

Hartman Exhaust (+ 3-4hp) = -7.5 lbs @ $255.00

Schmidt Bros. Exhaust (+ 4-6hp) = -7 lbs @ $699

CR Racing Dump Kit exhaust = -7 lbs @ $300

MPI Exhaust = -11 lbs @ $319

MBRP Exhaust = -10 lbs (+2hp) @$250

Aaen Mega Power Silencer = -7 lbs (+6hp) @ $425

Excell Motorsports Exhaust = -8 lbs @ $849

20 hp with exhaust and fuel controller??? I highly doubt it. yamaha didnt leave that much hp on the table. I would like to see the dyno sheets for that setup if someone can post them.

if you are considering the undertunnell exhaust think twice it will be much louder. I built one on my nytro (took it off) and i heard the skinz undertunnell setup at haydays.....both were loud. They defienetly would not pass the sound test here in colorado

I would recommend sticking with the stock configuration and replacing muffler and/ or header. the skinz mufflers that replace the stock muffler seem ok not too much louder and a bit lighter. as for the header AAEN makes a really nice strong header that will actually give you a little power increase (prob 4 or 5 hp) Not sure if AAEN makes a nytro muffler

Excell makes a header for nytro too but it is paper thin....not sure how long it will last

exhaust

I would also like to see the dino sheets from that i talked to quite a few reputable shops about this and every one says 10-12hp gains max with full exhaust intake mods and fuel controller.

MTXJOE you forgot about the hauck exhaust. not sure on the price but had the slip on pipe with out the header it was a decent improvment over stock. I still have the pipe in my garage for sale if anyones interested went with boost this year.

i have a Aaenn and love it good power and good sport bike sound.

Do you have athe Aaenn header? They claim more hp over anyone's header.

I just pick up a 2005 r1 stock exhaust off ebay.I'm going to make an under tunnel with it on the nytro and my apex.I got one too many tickets in WI for loud exhaut so want a quiet one.Its not a big deal when I go to wyoming for loud but don't want to be changing exhaust all the time.

why would you think you can bring your loud sled which has recieved multiple noise tickets to wyoming and it wont be a big deal? that is ridiculous. Loud sleds are one of the biggest reasons that we are always fighting to keep riding areas open out here

Dude take it easy. I'm not talking abnoxious loud I'm just compring a stock r1 exhaust to an aftermarket yoshimura with a quit core which is quiter then any aftermarket exhaust made for an apex or nytro.

Hurricane Performance has developed a kit using the Hindle header/muffler, airbox mod and PC5 that makes 18.6 HP over stock. I have been testing Hindles header/muffler set ups since day one...it flat out works. This kit was developed on my 08 Nytro RTX. Last season we tested a 20" muffler setup that is very quiet ( even quieter with a noise reducer ) and it worked great. My flatland setup is running a db reducer ( trail sled ) and is making 15+hp over stock. You won't make 18hp just by bolting the exhaust on, but it makes 9hp on it own....it requires the airbox mod and tune to get to 18.6hp. This graph shows the gains, keep in mind it was done in Oct in mild weather.
