If you take a Nytro put the Timbersled rear skid on it. a CE or Powerclaw track new exhaust, VE or CR tunnel, Barkbuster Front and any other LITTLE mods i might be missing.... how would it compare to a stock 800 2stroke?

LOL

I am guessing it would still weigh more and have less power.

I've got the Mtn Tamer rear end, clutching work, and a Polaris series 5.1 track (155), and I can go pretty much wherever my buddies on their 08 or 09 Dragon 800 and Rev XP's can go. It may not out climb them, or out drag them, but I end up pulling out all of them as much if not more than they pull me out. Not to mention the fact that it costs them more $ every trip in fuel (premium over regular, and they consume more) and oil. They will spend about a quart of oil ($5-8), and $0.20 per gallon more for premium fuel and usually another 2 gallons of gas (call it $5 in fuel costs).....it adds up!

Plus, at the end of the day, I'm much much less tired on my Nytro than I was on my Rev. It just doesn't take the energy out of me nearly as much.

Nytro would be more expensive

i know it would be more expensive and i also know it would weigh more and have less hp. BUT the torque on the 4 strokes seem to add alot at least to the stock nytro i rode. to me id rather just get a 4 stroke that will last long be dependable and not have to add oil every ride. Plus someday it will be turbod i was just wondering how one would compare with a few mods. If its reasonably close to like a stock 800 i know i would be very satisfied. And i dont need it to climb insane chutes sure it would be nice but dont need it at least right away.

Well see, I would be beating a 800 2stroke just cause of the guys i ride with sometimes dont use there noggins very well. LOL j/k

Yeah i know that they wouldnt out shine a newer 2stroke I have my own rev that i use for that. im just getting to the point where im not as wild and crazy as i use to be or maybe its because im tired of fixing my Rev all the time. Light yes,, strong not so much

I threw around the idea of decking out a Nytro. Stock tunnel, Timber Rear, 156x16 CE, Floats, Bumper, Skis. Handlebar set-up, 60-80hp NX Shot. See how it would do. Turbo the following or year after that. If I don't like it, a good base for a turbo for someone else.

Everyone I know says just turbo it first and ride it stock if you have to. Add parts later. I'm still torn.

rode my Nytro last year essentially set up the way you stated...could hang with anyting on the hill except boosted sleds...

you hit the two biggest issues right on the nose...timbersled skid, and track change...you will be blown away at what it does...

I have dropped nearly 100lbs. off mine, and it made it a completely different sled...just added boost, and well....it is not in the same hemisphere...

^x2!! What MTdream says....because of his advice, I modded mine this year as explained earlier.....night and day difference. Blows the minds of my riding partners as to how much better this sled is this year. Why Yamaha didn't do this out of the box is beyond me.

MTDream, what did you do to lose a 100lbs.? I've got the timbersled setup front and rear with rear drop brackets, what more can you do?? Battery, what else??

im with you on that idea... other than the nx shot! like to see the short track 156! 155 poo for me!!

As for the orginal question.. do it, go for it, but leave the tunnel for later when u do the turbo, when everything is apart and also when you know what turbo u r going todo

I have heard that the aftermarket performance head (around $800-1000) might add some substantial power. I am not claiming this but I have heard 30-40 hp.

lots and lots of little stuff after timbersled...

Tsled Mtn Tamer= -38 lbs.
battery= -10 lbs.
my turbo kit allowed me to drop -13 lbs.
Muffler= -10 lbs...
Tsled Barkbuster= -8 lbs.
Floats= -4-6 lbs. (depends on which model Nytro you have)
Delete Sway Bar= -3lbs.
Delete E-brake= -1.5 lbs.
Delete brake light and associated plastic and brackets= 1.5 lbs.
Delete foot pegs= -1 lbs.
Lots of little stuff... from here on out

I have a list somewhere...but this covers most of it...

I find that hard to believe...probably just bought some new graphics and cut his snow flap!!! those are surefire ways to gain HP!!!! :)

I honestly believe that fuel mapping and a timing curve could gain 15-20 hp. Why someone hasn't built cams, a new head, and done the fuel and timing changes is beyond me...

-70lbs(+) on my Nytro...

Timbersled and good track oughta come from the factory....

How did u lose 13 lbs with turbo, i would love to know if u weighed this. i think maybe your counting the exhaut twice. airbox don't weigh much, turbo, intercooler and plumbing does. you should weigh that thing on acual scales, I lightweighted mine to and the numbers don't add up.
