Nytro starting issues?

New member and I haven't found anything on this subject but I took my sled up this morning in 8 degree weather without a cover and the thing wouldn't start! It had enough juice but it wasn't engaging the starter for some reason. After fiddling around with the wires and checking the fuses which were all good it finally fired up. Just wondering if something maybe gets iced up that causes this or if anyone else has had this issue?? Just a little scary cuz I dont want it to happen on the hill. The sled is awesome though!! Thanks

No not free spinning in fact it wouldn't even make a noise when i turned the key but the battery is fine. I have checked all the connections I can get my hands on and all seem good. It just happened after trailering it to the hills and then again when I got it home without a cover and the roads were wet with temp around 10 degrees. I'm wondering if something just gets iced up maybe? I will start puttin my cover on but they are a pain in the rear! Thanks for your suggestion though. :beer;

Mine did that the first trip out. Snow appeared to be in the cdi and relays up front. same thing no cover but minus 15 degrees C. I played with it the same as you and it just started up, i didn't really fix anything. Happened again in my driveway when i took it of the truck. Hasn't happened since but I keep it in a heated garage, so i haven't been in that situation again. I noticed when it happened the electronics were full of snow from previous day. Dealer said he had parts to put in, but now hes saying wait until it happens again???? I don't like the wait until it happens again attitude because I may be in back country or ruining my trip along with my friends trips. If this happens and my play time gets ruined it will be time to sell because I don't like knowing there is a unresolved problem. 4 strokes are nice until there is a problem and then nobody has a clue as to what to do. Love most of the machine though. Please post if you find the problem.

Mine did it again this morning. It took around fifty twists of the key from the on position to get it started but once its warmed up it starts fine the rest of the ride. I just sold my XP which I loved by the way but didn't want to deal with all the issues they were having to buy the the Nytro for "reliability"...kind of embarrasing when the dam thing won't start and your buddys are laughin at ya! But I just took it to the dealer tonight so I will keep you informed on what they find out.

Haven't had any problems down to -15. Has taken 3 tries to keep her going when below zero and it seems you have to let it sit for a minute after rolling it before she'll fire but, that's it.

We have had the same cold start problems with a nytro. If the sled is in the shop and warm it starts right up, if the sled is cold you turn the key and nothing. If I leave the key on for about 5 minutes it will click and then in another few minutes it will start. It almost feels like some strange warm up system. Any imput from you pro yami's out there would really help.

Just got my Nytro back from the shop this morning and trailered it up to the riding area in -20 degree weather and it fired up perfect! They said the problem was a faulty solenoid. So far its working and starting up like a charm! Hope this helps you guys with the same prob...:beer;

I live in the interior of Alaska, and mine always starts. the coldest I ever started it was -35. It started way easier than my rmk and summits ever did at these temps I would not attempt to start those below -20. I usaually end up breaking a pull cord or recoil.
