nytro power

who makes a "power up " kit for the nytro ? A few of my friends want to buy a nytro, they just dont like the fact it lacks in power and they dont need a turbo. Has any one come out with a motor kit for these sleds yet ? As in a exaust , intake , head work and clutching combo ? there looking to get it to compeat with the stock 800s

Excell exhaust is claiming around a 10hp gain from their header pipe combo systm i believe. That along with some clutching would be a good start for sure, along with alittle weight loss and your headed in the right direction.

It would be nice to see a set of aftermarket cams and head work or even fuel management for improvements but i havent heard much in that regard. Good luck with it.

I heard Fundy Performance in Nova Scotia was working on something. They have a kit for the Vector that gets you to about 160 horse so they should be able to get the Nytro there as well. Their website leaves a little to be desired but I've heard they do good work maybe they just aren't computer types.

from fundy's page:

Cylinder Head porting, includes full race porting and valve job: Most 4 and 5 valve heads, $375 Cnd per head. Yamaha RX-1, R-1 and Apex heads, $1200 Cnd Yamaha Vector/Nitro/Rage, $950 Cnd

950cdn for 160 hp? I'd do it...If you could still run it on pump...Not just for race...

I put a 40 hp shot on mine Boondocker kit with controller etc. Some clutching and a slip on pipe..

After lightening mine up & clutching and gearing it will run with 8's and 9's. Won't highmark all of them but turned a lot of heads. I & a couple who've ridden it disagree with it being compared to 700's.

haucks motorsports sells a power up kit, fuel controller, K&N filters, full exhaust, but not sure on the clutch kit tho, but hartmanic has some and there claiming something like 4-5 miles to the track, not completely sure on hp's but you can look it all up on www.google.ca you'll find everything lol

Ulmer/Excell has a pipe/fuel/clutching combo too...

I just sent an E-mail to Fundy. If I can get 160 true HP on pump 'trailsafe' (I really don't think it's possible) with some head work, it's a no-brainer for me.

I'm with you. If I can get 160 HP for $1,000 I'm in. Let us know what they say in their response.

yeah the guys i ride with would want 160 hp plus nos , they just dont want all the stuff that goes along with turbos and dont need 200 plus hp all day long . any one hear of a 12.5 to 1 piston kit for these sleds? that would be a great place to start !:D

just got a reply from Fundy. 165HP trail package for the FX Nytro. They're still working on it, but...If they can keep the cost down to sub $1000, I'm sold on this.... You can always add a turbo later on....

If they can do 165hp for sub $1000, I think they would sell the crap out of them.

still waiting on some more info from them....this is the complete mail they sent me:

Hi Ole Bull, that is for the old 970cc Nytro/Vector. We just started working on the FX (if thats what your lokking for) with our basic trail package making 165HP, there's still lot's more to come from that engine though.

At this point it is sounding to me like ride it this season and get it ported over the summer, add an Excell high flow header, drop 50 lbs and voila. Mine only has 100 kms on right now so I probably need to ride it a bit anyways.
