nytro no start after shim and cam timing

Hey guys im having a problem trying to get the sled to start. Installed a head shim and accomplished the cam timing using go nogo guage. All together and it cranks but nothing. I have spark. New plugs and gapped to. 020. Can hear fuel pump working and has pressure. New injectors were installed also. If it sits for a day and I try it, it pops a couple times and then nothing. Wondering if there is anything obvious that I am missing? Does anybody have the spec on valve clearance? That is my next guess. Maybe valves are not closing all the way.

Thanks in advance

Maybe out a tooth on gears? Did you check timing after installing shim?

Well if your sure your getting fuel and you have spark and you,ve timed valve train right it should fire?? I did a few head shims on these triples and never had any issues.. Maybe someone else has some ideas

Intake 0.15 - 0.22 mm or .0059 - .0087 inches

Exhaust 0.21 mm - 0.25 mm or .0083 - .0098 inches

Set the exhaust to the outside of the range. Honestly this is something that should have been done before cranking it. Its not that hard to get the timing off TDC so you should also double check that.

What your compression at?

Have you done a leak down test?

Have your tired spraying a little starting fuel in her to see if she will pop over?

You need 3 things for an engine to run. Fuel,Spark, and compression. Your missing one of them.

I'm guessing your timings is one tooth off or you dont have something hooked up right.

compression check was also my next clue. and the starting fluid was metioned by someone at work today. will try tonight.

thanks to all

Line up the crank marks, pop the valve covers off and take a picture of the cam sprockets from the side as well as a picture of the cams from the top. Post them.

So pulled the motor again timing was 180 out. Don't know how I did that but.......should be good now. Started right up. Thanks to all who helped and had information for me I do appreciate it

Right on! You wont do that again.. I always double or triple check the timing after doing shims etc..

in some ways your luck that the piston never made contact with the valve. But glad it runs now!
