OK that black rubber plug that pushes in...mine is leaking and I dont know why. I remember a while back reading about this somewhere. Any one experienced this?? Just replace the plug or whats the solutions?? thanks:face-icon-small-hap

Mine has fallen out twice now and I cant figure out why. It goes in nice and snug so I can hardly believe its just falling out.

mine hasnt fallen out but it doesnt take much to pull it out....dont get it...not running to much oil...to much heat?? Last sled never had a problem. Seems water is geting in also. But I did do the 3 inch track mod so the top seal is exposed to snow....Might have to make a cover for that maybe??

any more ideas guys?

I have the same issues. Oil seeps out....

What oil do you use?

Some say thick oil builds pressure in the case and thats why. I dont know.

ya I have been using 75W90 synthetic gear oil.

What does yammie recomend? I have always used that and no problems until now.

well yours in pressuring up for sure enough to pop it out...better that than a oil seal. Hmmmm.....

I had same problem with plug falling out and getting water in chaincase. I also use same oil 75W90 and feel its a great oil.
The plug is now kept in place with zip ties. I gave up chasing the water in oil after changing all seals ect. I just change oil after every few rides.
Starting to wonder if driveshaft flexes and water can pass by seal!!! just a thought.

A buddy had same prob and just tried a non synthetic and prob solved. Still a wee bit that vents but not at all close to pushing out plug anymore not sure why this is happening and pretty sure it shouldnt be lol.

I have posted about this earlier, Since putting in my 3 inch track I keep finding water in my chaincase. At first I thought it was coming from my black plug vent. I rebuilt and repaced every seal in my chaincase, and still just last week I found water in my chaincase again. I think water could now be coming from the way I routed my coolant lines for my CR tunnel, If snow got on my coolant line and then melted it could possibly drip on to that black plug vent and run down into the case, I am going to change this over the summer. Something I have done from installing my 3 inch track and front cooler mod is causing this, because in the last 3 previous years running a 2.5 I never had one problem like this. It does not happen every ride, just randomly.

Thats interesting, I installed the POS VE delete kit this summer and last week mine popped out for the first time? 2200 miles on the stock set up last year and im at about 900 now this year with the cooler delete. Im curious if your not on to something.

This reminds me I need to order a new plug

My plug isn't or hasn't popped out but is drooling around it and leaking down causing a mess. I wonder if a guy put a brass nipple thru the rubber and lifted the vent higher if that would help. This is a new problem and I don't know what's causing it.

I have been using Redline Shockproof Lighweigth oil in my gearbox. It seems this formula of oil creeps and sticks everywhere. Oil is seeping out of the vent plug and also around the axle for the reverse lever. Ive just changed the track so this time i put in normal GL-5 synthetic gear oil, let see if that changes anything....

I have a VE tunnel and a big drop and roll, I have been told that the chain case vents through or round this same rubber grommet thus giving us the sense its leaking. I've heard this from local shops, Alpine and CR. Me, after a good days riding with alot of hard throttle time, I'll have probably 5-6 good table spoons of oil in the belly pan. Been this way for 2yrs. I just check it every ride, clean up the mess in the sled and my trailer and call it good.
