Well I pulled my cover tonight because i wanted to have a lookie and maybe gear it down one tooth on the top. Bottom bolt is broke off and hangin out in the big collar for the bottom gear?????? Man no damage but what gives?? I think I have had enough bad luck latley. I have read a few apexs breakin but no nytros. Why would it break?? Lucky I caught it....now the fun part....gettin the old piece out. I did use blue loctite when I had it apart when new to install the different track. Any ideas?? Thank god its not snowing....I got another week but man....lots of little stuff latley. 1000kms so far....hope this is it until the end of the season:eek:

One of my Nytros did the same. Luckily for the reverse case the head is trapped in the collar. Just extract the broken bolt and put in a new one with blue loctite and torque to 40 ft lbs. I used a 10.9 grade bolt.

blue loctite will soften right up, with a propane torch on the end of the shaft, then use a pick, sharp one, to back the broken bolt out. I've done it, tooo many times, fixing other peoples mistakes. Not bashing you, though. :D

someone making sure your not number 1 of the group????? Their tired of getting there arse handed to them in a platter.......Sound very suspicious...lol.....

Mine did that at 500 km bone stock.noticed a big bang from chaincase on a jump when it landed kind of ****ty, spun one driver too. The only reason i noticed it was when i installed my turbo and drivers. lucky i found it i guess. looks like a ****ty design to me. Looks like i will break a few of those. Here's something else to check, elevate sled move spindals for play, every ball joint and bushing is bADDLY worn already. more slop than a 10 year old sled. i hope dealer replaces these bushings and balljoints because if not i will have to coin up. love this machine though.

Got it out...had to drill thru it and use a easy out. Broke pretty much in half....still cant see why. Obiouslly its not really needed because it looks like its been broke for sometime. Thank god that collar wont allow it to fall out and catch in the chain. Gonna have to get a new bolt asap.

hey thistle, if al else fails, take a 3/8 or 7/16 nut and hold it on the end of the shaft over the broken bolt and carefully mig weld thru the nut onto the bolt..starting on the bolt build weld out and around the inside of the nut...the heat will loosen the locktite and you can throw a socket on it while it is hot and thread it out.....is easiest way to remove bolts..bar none...

What is up with this anyways? My Apex is stock and had the same thing happen at 2500km - except the gear backed off of the shaft while I was side hilling. The head had twisted right off! I guess I should replace it once a year? PITA

Same thing on my Nytro, swapped tracks at 440 miles. Bolt appears to have been broken for awhile and the chaincase has never been apart until now.

by the looks of it the driveshaft and the large spacer got hot but no metal transfer, cleaned it up and put it back together.

Just another thing to add to the long list of **** ups on the nytro:mad:

Pretty ironic, I swapped tracks today and that bolt was broke on mine, too!!!! I have never had my chaincase apart til today, but from the looks of the inside of my case cover, it has been rolling around in there for a while!!!!!!!

I pulled the 3 in my garage apart and all 3 are broken. LOL

Doesnt really matter, you dont need it anyway. Helps alot when putting the chain case together, but im not going to bother putin a new one in just so it can break.

This is only on the reverse model, right? I am thinking it is the through bolt that the non reverse model does not have. Just clarification for everybody.

I would like to know also. I have the non-reverse and have had my chaincase apart many times with no issues. Are you talking about the bolt that holds the lower gear on? I've had the gear and on off at least 4 times, never a problem with the bolt.

Nytro chaincase bolt

2 broken bolts so far and I think they are that way right away. Bet every sled has broken bolt within few miles.
