nyto better boards

There is a thread right at the top from MotoPsycho-o that has an nice example of how you can use Better Boards and also taper your tunnel for much improved deep snow performance. Note the 2010 NYTRO (P#0155 on our website www.snowmobilebetterboards.com) version of Snowmobile Better Boards has a more dramatic taper because Yamaha saw the light and improved the factory stock model. Lots of guys have been buying this version of our parts for their 08-09 Yamaha NYTRO and cutting down the rear section of the factory board. Essentially making your 08-09 a 2010 style with the huge performance and strength benefits of Better Boards.

FYI there is a big difference in aftermarket products and companies, not only in design, but in how you manufacture. Cutting up a minimum $10,000 sled and slapping some aluminum that a guy bends in his garage shop is completely different then what we do at Snowmobile Better Boards. We found this out rapidly on our way to getting 5000 plus on the snow being ridden and proven daily! Performance, engineering, testing, design, durability, function, warranty, customer support, and the backing of a significant successful manufacturing and distribution company makes all of the difference in the world.

Here's what i did to my sled. It cost about $400 for every thing. They should change the name from better boards to Best Ever Boards. They are a Major improvement over the stock boards and are well worth the money.

This is exactly what I want to do as well to an 08 nytro. I was going to order the better boards from WPS for an 08-09 nytro mtx. So you're saying if I want to shave down the wide footrests, I'll be better off buying the better boards for a 2010 nytro mtx as they are narrower? Do I still use the flimsy stock tunnel roll (footrest edge piece), or do you recommend the arctic cat tunnel roll, which I think would be stonger?

Sorry but I can't coach you on which outer rails would be the strongest because I personally have not performed this actual custom procedure (I've installed at least 10 sets on stock NYTRO just never this mod). Some of the other snowest guys may be able to direct you "better".

What I can tell you is that on the 2010 model the holes would end up being more centered because we designed it as a tapered model to start with. If you trim the 2008-2009 model the back holes are not as centered on your board. Per Yamaha finally understanding {now if we could get some of these other aftermarket guys to realize this with their wide kits the battle for superior deep snow performance is won} that surf board wide running boards do nothing but drag your sled down in deep snow and KILL YOUR PERFORMANCE not to mention the fact that it is horribly weak. Through performance field testing we found out that any drag even off of plastic or very slick surfaces cause massive performance loss and instantly gobbles up HP and forward enertia. The condition magnifies when you remove foundation like light snow conditions as your track throws out the snow and you battle high centering.

I think it would both save you time effort because you wouldn't have to trim taper the Better Boards to accomplish the same net result. Also you should really consider the coated version because the snow doesn't stick to the boards as much and the surface ends up being ten times harder.

Hope this helps and we appreciate all of you guys and your support and promotion of Snowmobile Better Boards!

Irondave...sweet job man and thanks for your input! We get that all the time especially on the NTYRO models. They certainly do improve that sled.

Just a thought for you to consider.
A buddy of mine ran the better boards on his Nytro. They got a little beat up so just a couple weeks ago we installed a CR Tunnel. My thought is save your money and do the tunnel.

If you want strength...Go to your local metal company for me it is Pacific Steel...Get some 1/4" cold rolled steel...it is square...needs to be shaved a little, but then you can put it in the edge of the stock Yammiepart...Have ran it in mine for a while, and it makes them STRONG!!!!

Here are my boards...
