If you are riding with any modern sleds, you will definitely be the first one looking for fuel.
Trail Tanks were really popular for them, and mine worked great. Gives 10.5 or 11gal of fuel so you are back to on par with most sleds.
The trail tank I had on mine that came with the old boondocker turbo kit was a pain in the rear. It didn't fit right from the start and over time it changed shape enough that eventually we had to modify the mounting ears on the bottom to get it to go back in.
but to answer the question, you will want to pack extra fuel with you on longer rides, the fuel mileage doesn't justify the smaller tank.
Moto did yours have the original snaps or threaded mounts for the panels? I had read a bunch of fitment issues with the early ones, fortunately by the time I bought they were using the factory Dzus fasteners and the fit seemed quite good.
