Now what did I get myself into?

Who would have ever thought waiting for tractor parts could be as bad as waiting for snowmobile parts?

tractors are worse! Since it is a tool and it is fun! Plus they are normally more expensive too. Good on you Gainster. Not too much more calming in life then running a tractor on a field....

True, I have my grandpa's 57 Case round nose 311 that he loved. The memory of him on that tractor is much better than the one of him dealing with cancer.

Gainster, I'd be proud to be your neighbor. I had an older guy living next door when I moved in to my place 6-7 years ago. He was in a chair and couldn't take care of his place very well.

I always plowed his driveway and kept an eye on the place. I helped him get a bird out of his house when it flew in an open window and I let him stay in my house when he accidentally started a fire in his house and had to wait for the FD to clear the smoke.

He'd tell me stories of being in the concentration camps and how him and his buddies got loaded and dug a pond with a bulldozer in his back yard one crazy friday night and he didn't know until Saturday morning. LOL

He also warned me about his crackhead daughter and how she tried to kill him in a car crash to get her inheritance (!!!)

Unfortunately he passed away a year or two ago with no will and now I have to deal with his crackhead daughter living there.

Thanks! I know where you are coming from!

Well I did not pull off the saturday give back, Had a setback with the clutch being froze & still low compression on #1 cylinder. Gave up & had a few :beer;:beer;. A buddy said to pour some 2-stroke oil in the cylinder & let it set over night. It worked well enuff to free up the rings & give up about 50 cranking psi. Good thing my driveway is 2800' long because we used up most of it pulling the G behind my Ranger trying to break loose the clutch. 7:00pm last night we had it all come together & run/shift :D

Get home tonight & I need to pull the carb & check the float level again, Put the fenders & hood on & we are golden.

Cool little tractor imo.

Update
I was a little too excited & just had to run the tractor down to the neighbor before the fresh paint.
He almost fell over when he came to the door in disbelief, He said that I had no idea how much he has been worring about those tractors & did not think anyone would ever do anything with them. It was the BEST medicine he he said he could have ever got! I was starting to feel bad because he was trying to give me food out of his freezer & grabbing cans off his shelf for my family. It truly was a great experiance & well worth the effort. The phone rang quite a bit last night with people saying thanks, I think the ol guy called everyone he knows to tell them about his tractors:D

That is awesome!!! Great work!

Thanks a bunch guys! When Leo was making his phone calls last night he called my mother-inlaw where my 5 year old daughter was spending the night. She said to him on the phone "Uncle Leo we have your tractor & got it running for you" (he's not her uncle but she loves him like one):D

Leo called us last night & said to keep the little Allis in our barn for him

Lets get a pic or three of the old machines! Always been a fan of old tractors...want to rebuild one some day just fer fun. (according to my mother, my first word as a baby was "trac-torrrr!")

Good for you! Makes me wanna drag the ol' cockshutt out from behind my mom and dad's place and start working on it. Dad has 2 acres and it would be a hoot to see him mowing it with that and the sickle bar mower.
