Not Impressed with the XP! Whats the deal???

Just spent the last 8 days riding out in the Island Park area, and to say the least I was suprised at how badly the XP in our group performed. In hill drags with my XRS I would beat the XP by up to 10 sled lengths on various climbs in all snow conditions. Is this a commonality or was this XP just a dog? It sure made me glad I kept my REV. I won't even mention how bad the 09 M8 beat me on the same hills, but that sled was impressive to say the least.

Rider and setup and the XP is about as good of a stock sled you will find in the deep. Should easily outclimb the Rev chassis in the deep, I have spent alot of time on both with good setups.

Bad rider? Bad setup? Could be a lot of different things. But my XP has never been outclimbed by a rev and I weigh 280 w/o gear. And this was before my big bore. Actually have not ridden on my big bore yet, coming up on three months now still in the shop. Actually have zero time on the snow yet this year....ok I better stop. I'm slightly pizzed. Sorry to sort of hijack this thread! :)

so far i'm in the same boat, not to impressed, my 09 is like a pepsi can, keep going through nuns, a arm etc. i've never had a sled that bends up after every ride......

My old 07 would walk all over this 09, i ride with two 06's that walk all over this new sled and just about every other sled i ride with is pretty close to it. with my 07 just about no one was keeping up to me and climbing as high. my 07 was set up pretty good, the 09 i'm getting closer but the way every one is talking a stock 08/09 should be walking over the ol' rev plat form.

i might be moving over to the dark side once, polaris or cat updates there chassis. because doo probablly won't for a few years cause the xp is still a fairlly new sled

You just rode a poorly setup sled. Mine runs very well, except when crank bearings go bad. The demo sled runs pretty darn good too.

You probably shouldn't ride with out snow. It will save the front end from getting damaged:face-icon-small-dis If you are tearing and bending stuff up everyride, you're retarded.

i knew this was coming, but hey i'm not here to call ppl names or any thing i'm just saying the luck i've had with my new XP and the good luck ive had with 6 previous sleds in my 15 years of riding. i get called stupid, redarted, crazy, nutz, all the time. but thats the way i ride.

So far this year i have 5 rides, (about 12 days) all mountain riding tons of snow. so low snow isn't the issue. today i did take my sled out at home first time the sled has been rid not in the mountains, either than loading and unloading it. when i bent my fresh brand new nun today that i just finished installing yesterday i love tapped a clump of hard snow only goin 10 MPH. somethings just not right,

i do amit that some of the bent issues are my fualt, but it does seem to bend way to easy, in comparison to previous sleds. i've had the ol vmax's, zx's, zxx's, and revs before this XP, and none of them had the issues i've been having with this one.

So far this year i'm in for 2 lower left arms (first 2 rides), one nun (just finished replacing yesterday, ski was only 2 inches back), one bumper and belly pan (this one was my fault , just kinked the bumper which melted the belly pan), one sliding half of the primary, 2 coolant leaks, and 3 belts. now i'll be doing another nun.

upon closer inspection of the first nun, so far this year. i noticed that wear the front lower a arm bolts in to the chassis is twisting. and the aluminum bolts are also twisted. i might build some sort or brace that may strengthin this and also get rid of the alluminum bolts.

For the record just giving my opiniun of my experience with my XP, and that i'm not to impressed with it.

thanks
mike

I don't know why everyone is complaining and bashing on the XP. It has it problems along with every other sled that was made for the high demand.

My 08 146 is a ripper, hands down out climbs my buddies 07 rev and 07 m8. Even after hitting a rock with the belly and ripping loose my radiator by 4 inches.

Just need to work the kinks out and shes deffently a keeper..with some minor tweeks.

Two everyone their own !!!
Lets ride !!

To the first post. How many miles on the XP? Was it brand new? I believe there is a burn out chip at about 200mi. or so. Not sure have been told. Mine ran better after break in. Same belt. Not one quirk.
One thing I do know, a little clutching went along way on mine. There is no way a XRS will climb with it. I go anywhere my cousin goes on his CMX 800.
Something does not add up here. 429 lb sled and 151hp the math is simple.
And to the guy twisting everything off the sled. When you bring up caving in the bumper, Enough Said......
I love mine and its my back up sled. I usuall ride my TRX the XP is the wife's.
Pick on another XP the first one sounds like he has a plug wire off. lol:rolleyes:

i just got an 08 xp this year and it out performs my buddies 09 assault and my other friends 09 dragon 800, easy.

i have 450km's on mine and i haven't lost a belt yet which i thought for sure was gonna happen from what i've read. i went to the local snowmobile clubhouse last weekend and all the new xp's had lost a belt already. don't know what the difference is. maybe i just got lucky. overall though very happy.

So what if ur m7 mod makes a 09 m8 look bad:D

I was there too and Sjun is right........

The XP does not live up to the hipe. I'm not saying yours doesn't kick azz, but in general they sure are a disapointment. No one expects a guy to admitt that the new sled he just bought won't go, so it's not a big suprize that there are defenders. As time goes by the XP will not be marked in history as a success.
