Not Getting Full Shift Out

Are you stock or using SLP pipe and can?

If stock, i believe the 64 gm weights are the right ones, but you need to get Carls helix to load the motor more.

If you are running SLP pipe and can, you need 2gm heavier weights and get Carls clutch kit that goes with it. Their kit is spot on!!

Call them and ask a few questions :) 208.853.5550

As said earlier . . .dont gear down. Go back to 64 weights and try the Carls helix. It really DOES work well.

i just called them and ordered their helix and roller bearing.
i didn’t get the belly buster weights. I have a variety of polaris weights at the house. what belly buster weights do they sell with their kit? how heavy?

what weights do you suggest for 7000-9500 feet? Kind of in between. slp pipe and can. stock springs

They sell/use Epi belly buster weights. You can buy them on Amazon for cheapest price I have found.verify the part number is the same ones listed on the Epi website. Some of the Amazon are not properly listed.

66 gm belly buster weights for SLP pipe and can. 64 gm without pipe and can. The whole kit works very well!
I ride 6k to 8k feet elevation and mine turns 8250 to 8400 consistently depending on how heavy and/or deep the snow is.

I am not certain what the exact differences between the two are, so don't want to give you misinformation. If you get a chance, give Carls Service Department a call and they will fill you in on that bit of info. :)

Was by Fleetwood's but could not pull myself out of Captain Jack's and the Dark and Stormys long enough for oysters. Will be riding tomorrow with the lighter weights back in.

Sorry it took so long to get back about this. Rode last Wednesday (March 8th) and there was about 30" of new snow. Not super light snow but lots of fun. Anyway, could not get any real speed up due to snow. Rode last Saturday (March 11th) and everything has gotten warm and the snow has settled terribly. Could get out on a flat road and get some speed up and am getting much more shift out with higher mph. Pulled 8300 to 8350 rpm on long climbs in heavier snow. Life is good. Too bad it is now raining and all of the snow we waited all winter for is rapidly leaving us. Hope everyone has some good spring riding before it is all gone.

I'm not a pro with clutches/gearing but if you {never} see full shift out I would think that that's leaving a lot on the table? and grounds for a gear down? just my thoughts and they might be wrong as wrong gets but never see top speed + never see full shift out = sumtinwong!!! might be able to fix that with just clutching like I said I'm no pro but have found that clutching and gearing influence each other

You will never see full shift out if you are not driving top speed! I remember reading somewhere that these sleds are designed to run about half shift out most of the time because it's most effective and stresses the belt less than full shift..

I did go back to the lighter weights but the biggest thing is that I finally got it out on a flat surface where the snow was set up and got to run up some speed. I had been fortunate enough to not have had to ride on any groomed trails all year so I never got up much speed. Got up RPM but not speed. In my state of ignorance I did not realize I needed speed not just RPM to get shift out. Now I know. Thanks everybody for your help.
