Not Getting Full Shift Out

Have a 2017 Axys with 163 X 3 track on it. Am running 10-66 weights and factory Polaris belt. I am not getting full shift out. Marked the primary and am leaving about 1" of mark towards the outside edge of the primary. What should I be looking at? Also, am pulling about 8200 RPM in heavier spring type snow. The 10-64 weights had me pulling about 8450 RPM. Thanks in advance.

You might get full shift out if going WFO on a hard packed trail but you shouldn't do that as it may damage the track. Otherwise you shouldn't expect full shift.

Never thought about not expecting full shift with the 3" track. That does make sense about damaging lugs. Plus I really don't want to be wide open on a groomed trail. Kind of a mediocre trail sled at best.

Are you stock or using SLP pipe and can?

If stock, i believe the 64 gm weights are the right ones, but you need to get Carls helix to load the motor more.

If you are running SLP pipe and can, you need 2gm heavier weights and get Carls clutch kit that goes with it. Their kit is spot on!!

Call them and ask a few questions :) 208.853.5550

Everything is stock on the sled. Went to the 66 gram weights because I was pulling a little to many RPM and the highest elevation I get to is about 6300 ft. If I was riding taller terrain I would be running the 64 gram weights. Also, clutch is blown out and cleaned after every ride.

I usually unload at 4,000 to 4,500 ft. and go up from there. Everything feels fine and does not feel like too much helix but just noticing on primary that am not shifting out so have been wondering what I am missing.

You'll have to gear down to get more clutch movement. With 2.0 gearing in the chain case, 8200 shift speed and 7 tooth 3" drivers your top speed is about 80 MPH. If you are leaving a 1" mark on your clutch, you never go over 65 MPH.

Maybe need to get on a good groomed trail and let it run out for a mile or two and see how that looks. Thought that making a long pull would make full shift but I guess it needs speed.
Thanks

If you are showing about 40 MPH climbing hard. In the above situation you'll only be 1/2 of the way out the clutch.

He said its a 163 X 3, that means he has the chaincase with 19/44 gear which is 2.32 , I wouldnt gear it down more, that ratio works really well.

I would go back to the lighter weights, the axys runs very good at 8300-8400.

As other have posted, your not going to reach full shift out in the primary unless you reach the top speed of your gearing ratio. Eric

With 7 tooth drivers final is 2.52. Stock they are geared way to low. IMO

Thanks for all of the help. Unfortunately I have to be off of the sled for about 10 days. (Maui vacation and now it is snowing here) When I get back I will try the lighter weights again. I didn't think ahead enough to realize that I had to be going full speed, not just full RPM to get full shift out. Since I try to avoid the trails as much as possible, I may never realize full speed which is just fine with me as long as there is powder somewhere. I hope it is snowing for all of you guys while I can't ride.

Had a similar issue with having to run 2+gram heavier weights than dictated by altitude. Turned out to be a loose belt. Had no clue, as the sled ran great,no bog, nice hard acceleration. Was in heavy snow conditions and finally when trying to reverse the belt started to squeal and slip. No slip going forward! Adjusted the belt tension to prevent slippage and the motor shift speed dropped back to normal and then had to remove the 2 grams of weight added previously.
