Just Blindman and I yesterday. The Fish Lake Rd was pretty brutal in the morning. Once we got above 5,000 feet, there was between 10 and 18 inches of fresh, depending on the exposure. Once the sun was on the southern exposures for an hour or two, it turned to mashed potatoes pretty quick.
We didn't see a soul between the trailhead and Van Epps Pass. Blindman had a pretty scary bail about halfway through the day. See the video..... He meant to come down one chute sooner. Fortunately both he and the sled came through unharmed.
Later in the day we ran into two guys with a broken down M8T. We spent the next couple hours hauling this sled up to the ridge top. Once we got over the top, they got it started right up and rode it out..... Hopefully we earned a little good karma
Some of the area in the video I wouldn't have posted on here last year. It's been on Snowest so many times now and it gets so much traffic that I officially give up. Two of the guys we saw in there yesterday didn't even know where they were.
The past month or two has been a great end to the season. There are some bare spots showing up on the road down low. If you can handle the bumps, it should be good for while yet.
