About $1000 if they stop now. About $3200 if they do what they suggest...Crank Kit, Fly Wheel, 2 pistons, motor mount bolts. From what it sounds like, this sled is only worth $4000 in good condition. Should I even bother fixing it??? Or would I be better off paying the grand and parting it out???
 
Only worth 4000 if you want to sell it. If you want to ride it, it's worth alot more than that. If they do all that work and they guarantee it your sled will have a new engine and be ready to rock.
 
ever think of maybe learning some mechanical? all of that for a rattle, you could of saved yourself a whole lot of money if you would have just rode it.

but what ever its your money you can give it away to the shop if you want. :O
 
Flynlow...sorry to hear about your breakdown!! Glad I finally took this thing in before it exploded on me out on the hill, but I understand why you didn't...sure didn't sound like anything major!?!?! Let us know what you find out and thanks for the info.
 
Z-Man...thanks for all the info. I will talk to the shop about a "guarantee", but I am pretty sure I won't get one. The Polaris shop didn't even want to work on it to begin with. But you are correct...it is worth more to me than 4...i just seriously question the reliability. Thanks again!

I've had mine since it was new in 05. It has never broke down. It has never had an engine code. It always starts on the second or third pull. It used belts bad when I got it but not now with the 11115 belt. Most of the issues are caused by the things you are fixing. I do about 1000 worth of maintenance and upgrades in the off season on average to it checking everything to make sure there are no new problems.

If they update the crank it is worth the money to send Dan the clutch to make sure the balance is perfect. If the dealer tells you you don't need to, they don't know what they are talking about, had mine done after they told me not to and it made a huge difference. Almost no vibration now.

Almost forgot to tell you. Mine still has the 05 pistons and the factory crank in it too. A friend I ride with in MT has an 05 166 and the worst problem he has had was a track shock failed.
