No standard rmks?

The standard

That is exactly what I bought last year! I think the std. is the best route to take. They come stock with more boggies on the rails, aluminum rear bumper and I don't think I have ever seen it go over 125 deg. even on hard icy trail. These std. models are way over looked by most people because they want the Pro name on the side. So far I've added a complete set of four Z-Bros X1's, a teth-air, removed the kill and key switch in favor of a spring loaded push button kill on the dash, and scratchers just in case. So for less than 13k I'm gonna ride it like I stole it till the warranty runs out!!

Love my standard RMK. Runs cooler, I like the handlebars better. The brake and switches do suck. Spend the $$ you save on shocks better than the WE's.

Just picked mine up last week. The front tunnel cooler was the major factor in getting the RMK. With my '11 Pro, I got tired of always looking at the temp gauge, especially when the freshy got thin. A few rides became a real PITA when conditions were hardpack early in the morning. Added a red skidplate and scratchers to mine. Ready to go.

I bought the 11 pro a couple years ago and my friend I ride with bought the standard model pro at the same time and he never has to worry about it overheating. It has the front heat exchanger on it and a few extra bogie wheels. Only uses his scratchers when it is hard pack/icy. I talked to the shop mechanic about retro fitting and he says very expensive to do and you need to change lots of coolant hoses. He just says live with it and use your scratchers.

that what i run now a standard rmk with upgraded shocks. i need the cooler for driving it in the prairies, think alot of guys that bought pros for here are going to either over heat or be pissy. I was hoping the assault came with one then it would be a no brainer to get an assault with a 5.1 track.

power addiction racing has a extra tunnel cooler you can add, you need to weld it on but might work other than its way at the back so you might still need scratchers.

I read on the Polaris web site the standard does not come with the belt drive. That would the reason I would go with the pro.

I was thinking that if/when I update I would also get a standard for all the reasons mentioned... I must be one of the few who actually PREFER the bar switches... never have to take my hand off the bars. That's why I love my 09 standard RMK

The deal breaker is they don't offer a standard in a 163... after having a 166 and a 155, I sure do miss the advantages the longer track offers, and I think extending things after the fact is just a band-aid.

I dunno, my OPINION is that you get a lot less with the standard. Local sales guy even agreed, the standard on the sales floor was pretty unattractive. Color, options, etc.
Depends on what you want to use it for I guess.

That is a pretty sled.

I am seriously thinking of going with the standard next round. I've added wheel kits to mine already and yes it does get warm. In SD we have to ride trails to get to some good snow. I like my pro tapers and that is about the only thing I have to decide on. And we have all had chaincases for how many years.

yah thats the big issue with it.......wish they made the assault with bulk head cooler, but it still does not have the belt drive.

They are really pushing me to another brand, im very interested in a 154 freeride right now. Can take the abuse of ditch riding and i can still have a good time when i go out west.

I bought the standard for the wheels, cooler, and I liked the handle bar better. Saved some $$$$ too.

I ride with some Pros. They think they got the better deal, I think I got the better deal.

It doesn't really matter, as long as you get what you want. If you want a Pro, buy it. If you want a standard, buy it. If you want a ski-doo, buy it.
No real sence in trying to convince the other guy that you got the best deal. In the end, the other guy got the best deal cuz that is what he wanted, and you get the best deal cuz it is what you wanted.

D

yep extra cooler saved me in the mountains a few times traveling up the trail with scratchers down the pro boys had to stop i just kept rolling on also has anyone tried a cat m8 rear cooler by looking at that rear bar u could cut it and add it in make sure its from a 10-11 m8 and could be riveted on.

Just in the process of adding an extra cooler on my 13 pro rmk! I will post some pics on the install when its finished! It will be a front cooler that requires no welding and is plumbed into the factory locations on the engine and coolant bottle. It is a prototype at this point and I will post after the installation is complete.

I added a fastrax rear u cooler recently to my pro. I'm not sure it will work as well as a front cooler, but it is an option and really should help.
