no spark,stator testing

a friend of mine has a 95 zr 580 efi with no spark, and was told it was the stator.Does anyone have the specs to test this with an ohm meter? How about other suggestions, crank sensor, coil?

Use the links in my signature to see how to test it. The specs should be 45 ohms and 450 ohms. It can test good while cold but test bad when warm. Since you don't have any spark, it is likely that whatever is causing the issue will test bad the 1st time tested no matter if it is warm or cold. Check all connections. Clean them and use dielectric grease on them. You can try to swap out a set of known good coils on it to see if the coils are bad. Make sure all wires are in good condition and aren't frayed and shorting/ground ing out anywhere. make sure your ground is clean. If the stator tests good you can also bypass all of the switches (kill, tether, key) by using a jumper on the 2 wires that are NOT yellow coming out of the stator (not going to the cdi/ecu) and seeing if there is spark. Your friend has a "closed" eletrical system so if there is any break in the system (bad switch, dirty ground, ect..) it will not complete the circuit and it will not have spark. Also, check the pulser coil. That is the last video on the list in my signature. I rewind stators for $150 and offer a 2 year warrenty.
