Trouble shooting my no spark problem on my 900 efi, down to the lighting coil or the ecu! The lighting coil has .8 ohm and spec is .08-.12. Lighting voltage is 4.5 at the highest and spec is 5.4-5.8!!! Question I have is, does the lighting coil have a direct link to the ecu working or not. And the org and blk wires to the coil, are these ac or dc voltage. spec 151-176 and I get 59 or so dc and .09 ac as far as i can tell. any info would be good! Or if anyone has a 900 efi if they could do a few tests and share them with me that would be great! thanks

Did you try to hold the throttle open and check for spark? The throttle safety switch and can cut the juice. Unplug the stator wires to the ecu, using a digatal ohm meter put the red lead into the pin for the black/red line and the black into the green/red...on X1 it should read 13.6 to 20.4 then test the 2nd coil by putting the red lead into the brown/white and the black into the green/red readings should fall into the same rehlm as the first one. The wires going to the ignition coil should be tested with the red lead goin into the B/O and the black into the O/B... readings should be 0.24 - 0.36 The plug wires whould test 6800 to 10,280 between the two. Hope that helps

no spark

I did check these wires(the blk/r & g/r...br/w & g/r wires) and they fell within specs, and I did hold it w/o and pull it over still no spark, I ohmed the throttle switch, it works properly, the primary coil is new, it falls within spec as well. ECU???????? I checked all the coils for ohms and the lighting coil is the only one that didnt fall within the guide lines. The manual is somewhat misleading when it comes to the 900 efi. The manual states to unhook 4 pin harness and try to start it to eliminate a wire grounded out or faulty switch, but I'm thinking this doesn't pertain to a 900 efi because the only 4 pin connector is for the fuel pump coil(orange wires) and the injection coil (blue/w wires). If anyone has a wiring diagram for a 05 900 efi could you please email it to skiscoop@aol.com

Sure it spark and not a dead fuel pump?? They don't make much spark and fuel pumps going out is very common, both mine and my buddies '04 pumps went out.

I wondered about that too but he did say he had no spark. The lighting coil does run the fuel pump and he said that did not test good.

It was slightly out on the high setting.

You guys can play wiring all you want, but I am just saying check the fuel pump. We had 2 sleds go down and you would have sworn it was spark, but it was the fuel pump. Good luck!!

I was just saying that he did say he only had 4 1/2 volts, thats not enough to run the fuel pump. The fuel pump is easy to test by hooking a battery to it and yes they do fail, but you still get spark.

fuel pump!

Fuel pump is good, tests good and runs on a battery, no spark at all, everything goes back to the ecu. From what I can see! I have had a fuel pump issue with this but not this time! I think im gonna part it out, either xp or 09 or newer m1000 here i go! I think! Im hoping for a brainstorm and simple fix. I just put $1000 in this thing a 2 weeks ago!

Man that sucks !!! Maybe take your ecu to someone that has a 900 efi and plug it in to their sled. See what happens.

The last ECU i fried was because of a pure logic box not being grounded. Hope that isn't what did yours.
