No sledding this year for me

last week I was in the gym doing my usual work out and on the bench was at 375, coming down and SNAP! severe pain and bar came crashing down on me, spoter barley got it off my chest. went to my ortho surgen and told me I had a pectorial major rupture at the tendon, verry rare only 100 cases reported, so any way had surgery friday and it will be a long recovery. Very depressing, any one want to buy my M 1000 :(

sorry to hear about that. hang in there and dont rush anything, so you cause more damage.

Exact same thing happened to me in 2000. I was taking a couple practise runs steer wrestling the night before the college finals. Reached out as I was getting down on the steer and POP! Get ready for a LOOONNNNGGGG recovery. Best of luck. :beer;

Don't you mean the bench was set at 175 lbs? 375 lbs is alot of weight, not many on here could come any where near that........

Recovering form a labrum tear here, I rode after 6 weeks but its not as pleasant as it could be. Good luck on the recovery, damn and I thought I was good at 210 on the bench lol.

did you have surgery? and how long before you were back to 100%, I think I will be recovering for 12 to 18 mo.

Good luck and here's wishing you a quick recovery..... as is possible.
I had a minor pec tear last year after wrestling with a guy at a fire scene. Took 4 to 5 months with no surgery before I could even do a push up.
Take it easy and don't rush it.

I feel your pain bro! About two years ago I was at a family reunion. All my brothers are lifters and I had made some good gains, I was going to show them what's up. When I was warming up I felt some pain in my shoulder but the ol' ego was kickin strong. Went up to 495 on flat bench and got it but was in a lot of pain. Then I continued with incline and decline bench after that! Needless to say I tore my rotator, two tears in my labrum and also needed a chromioplasty (sp?). The bad part is having to be out of the gym. But it sounds like you're in good shape and you will recover much faster than the doctors say. Good luck! And who needs two pecs to ride a sled anyway!!! :)

Yeah, I ended up having two surgeries over the course of 2 years. The first time, they fixed it but it didnt work. The second time they took everything off, cleaned it up, reattached the muscles to the tendon, and then drilled through the bone twice and threaded the tendon around and sewed it to eachother. The second one was a painful mofo to recover from. Took a couple of years after the second one to get back to normal. Feels pretty good now. I dont think it will ever be the same though.

So yeah....you could be good to go after 12 -18 months if you have a good surgeon. My first surgeon didnt know what he was doing. I think that was what caused a lot of the problems.

This post is startin to look like a typical day at the gym. A bunch of Good Ol Boys trying to prove who can lift the most instead of really workin out.
Mirrors lead to injuries! :D

that sucks--i've been out of riding for 5 1/2 weeks but have finally healed the severed tendon in my right hand and plan on maiden voyage saturday in cooke---good luck

495?

Jesus...So when you get stuck do you just push the earth down like Chuck Norris to get unstuck?

Work out

Just goes to prove my work out is better... come home from work, sit on my butt, drink beer, eat cheese and jerky, and then complain on the weekend I am too fat and out-of-shape. Do hope for a speedy recovery for ya
