NO RPM'S

I have a 2008 Dragon 800 and im only getting 7350rpms out of it.. i droped weights too rons 61 and it went to 7200 then i went back to the 62 weights and it went up to 7350 what is wrong with my sled.... any ideas its like it got a huge bog on the top end when i open her up please help

Mine did the same thing. I found a broken ex springon the right cyl. The drain for the hood inlet drips right into the ex port and rusted it. I have not had it running since I found this. I tore it apart to put the P.M.S. piston kit in. Will have it up and running in a couple days, hopefully with new ex. springs and bellows it will pull rpms again.

also check over your clutches, if any bushings or rollers are worn it will cause low rpm as well..most likely going to find rollers bad on primary clutch..but inspect everything..could be a combination of things...

Thank you, they are coming off and getting rebuilt also.

ok i will take them off and look over them and see if somethin is broke or worn take the secondary off and clean it really good and see what that does got any more ideas???

This sounds alot like what is going on with my sled. At wide open i only hit 7500 to 7600 rpms. Here is a list of things i have checked all ready.

Exhaust valves, springs and bellows look fine
Primary, springs rollers look fine
Spark plugs, mag looks good but the pto is dark, rich. Have tried new plugs but didnt help the low rpm problem.
Tried two different belts, polaris 115 and a ultimax

Nothing I have tried has helped. I sled feels like it is running way too rich and almost flooding out at WOT. It has ran like this since taking it out at the begining of the winter.

Have the stock 68 gram weights in it (short track, low elv.). Last year this setup was right at 8100 to 8200 rpm.

No det or check engine lights come on.

I'm curious what u find out with your sled. my 09 assault has been very inconsistant this year. start out the day and it pulls 8200-8400. after a half hour its down to 7700-7900. just put a new spring in the secondary, checked out the primary, looked at the power valves, looked at the pistons, and installed a new fuelpump. dont know where to look next.

low rpm's and then seized

I had the same thing happen to mine was running perfect then would'nt rev above 7300 and would not idle very good. Checked everything over couldnt find anything so I dumped the gas thinking I might have got a bad batch filled up new gas yesterday at whistler and the motor seized 10 min into the ride

holy **** dont say that haha thats exactly what mine is doing it will idle sumtimes good at the truck then get up too the mtns. around 9000 feet and it would only idle at 1000 sumtimes 1100ish not very oftne then when you are headed back down the trail half way back to the truck u stop to talk and it idles just fine almostl ike ur dealing with a mod carb. sled

checked my compression last night it was 110 primary side and 80 on the other. It seized solid when it happened but after about 10 min it fired up again, I tried to limp it back to the truck and 1 min later it seized again. Towed it the rest of the way fired it up to load on the truck. I had just got it out of the shop the day before and they put the new reg. and plugs in it and said thats why it was running funny, I guess not. Now I'm wondering if I should go with the wiseco pistons

i have heard some bad stuff about wiseco pistons i herd that they are made... damn it i cant think of it but like you have to wait for the sled to be totaly warm befor you can run it cuz of the the expansion of them... my dad blew his sled up 2 miles from the truck 2 weeks ago and our machanic shiped the mono block out to have millenium technologies to repair the block its harder plate in there and he also said to run spi pistons in it they are better then wiseco pistons but we also ride at 7000-10000 elavation

i absolutly can not get my sled to pull over 7700 with stock clutching and 10-60's ground to 59g. we ride from 4500-8000. pistons look good but i have been fighting this problem and limp mode problems for about a month now.

i took the primary off and the secondary off this week.. cleaned them all up turned the idle up and put it all back together got out this weekend a long pull climbing a chute i held 8000 the hole way up it i was jacked clutches get really dirty and dont function right...
