No fuel pressure?

So motor is in after a rebuild. I think I've primed the fuel pump properly, as per the how to's, and I have spark. No fuel is getting to the plugs? Even the fuel pressure valve has nothing. What am I missing????

a couple of things could be the problem.

1. did you make sure you have all the connections plugged in
2. did you try to prime the fuel pump correctly?
ground from the battery on the brown wire in the 2 wire plug and + of battery to the red wire. listen for the buzz of the pump. no buzz means pump isn't running. which means either your not doing it right, the fuel pump connector isn't plugged in or your fuel pump is bad.

pm me if you need more info i can give you my cell and we can talk

Hey Bigdawg, thanks for the info. Pretty sure I'm using the right plug. I can hear the fuel pump spinnin away. Is there another connector under there that can make the fuel pump alive, but not prime? The only two wire combo with red and brown thats small has the connector cut off of it. I"m guessing it's the fuel pump prime. But there is also another connector under there with a gray and a red wire that is small that looks like the fuel prime connector. Is it just a test one? I will check everything again, but I'm baffled. So frustrating.

I have just run the pump off of the regular plug it uses, make sure your polarity is correct. If the pump is running you should be GTG. No pressure at the valve seems like a problem if the polarity was correct. Got fuel?:eek:

I put 20 liters of fuel in. So that should be enough. Maybe I should run the polarity the other way? Sounds like the pump is for sure working. Just not building pressure. After everything I've done, I really hope I don't have to replace the fuel pump assembly!!! Jeezzzzzz!! And while I'm in there, I might as well replace the tank the fuel lines and the fuel rails......Just kidding.:confused:

Don't just reverse it, make sure that you are running + to the red wire. I'd even push in the valve while priming the pump if I wasn't getting pressure. Another thing you could do is disconnect the lower end of the filter, put it in a can to catch the fuel when you prime it. You should be pumping alot of fuel here. With the system now "open" the pump will stay running.

I would also run 12v at the connector directly at the pump

Just a thought, is it possible that the lines are plugged in the tank from sitting all summer? The pump is definitely running. I guess I'll be pulling the tank out again tonight, and popping the fuel pump assembly out and seeing if there is any suction at the pick ups. Any other ideas guys, please let me know. I'm anxious to ride. Thanks. And Bigdawg, shoot me your digits on PM if you want, I'll give you a jingle.

Thanks Skibreeze. I pushed the valve while priming and no difference. I will disconnect the fuel filter(which is new), and see if I"m getting any fuel. I doubt there will be any coming out of it. I don't think it's possible, but what if the fuel lines are miss matched? I have the fuel filter hooked up to the right side male end on the fuel tank, connecting to the bottom fuel line to the motor. The push valve that crosses over the top of the motor is hooked up to the top male end on the fuel tank. The manual doesn't show ****.

No need to pull the tank, just pop the console off and you can get to the pump assy. I have an oil filter wrench that can get the nut off. When I was trouble shooting mine, I put fuel in a big open container and ran the pump to see how it was all working. It should pump fuel with either one of the pickups pulled up out of the fuel. Just be carefull not making any sparks.;)

I"ve checked everything, and it all looks good. I guess I will be pulling the pump tonight to check the pick up lines. Thanks guys for all the help. Bigdawg, thanks for yackin at me on the phone today and giving me a better understanding on how the pump works. Cheers!!:beer;
