So i finally ripped my clutches off etc to get it ready for tomorrows first ride of the year and ive always had the dealer service my diamond drive. Since its an 05 m7 i figured i better learn how so thought id try it myself, and they were right it was easy unitll i noticed my diamond drive doesnt have a drain plug just the casting where its supposed to be... Now im scared should i just split the case and re-seal it? should i try to drill it and install the drain plug....... should have waited unitll monday. Help !!!!!!!!!!! Please.

2005 m7's dont have a drain plug. You have to split the case and re-seal
Split the cases anyway. You will never get all the old oil out thru the drain plug. Open it up and clean it well. It will last much longer and is easy to do...
And as long as you have it apart drill and tap the case for a drain plug >>>>.
I just changed DD fluid for someone on a 05 drain and fill on the inside of tunnel. Tipped sled on its side to drain then tipped sled on the other side to fill. My 06 has fill and drain.

As stated above and you will get all the oil out, just leave on side for a bit.I do this regularly and always measure what i catch and it is the same as what i put in.It is the way the drain sits at the bottom on the 05...get a long tube to fill,,

my did. like they stated inside the tunnel.
I have never seen one without a drain. I always filled the d-drive through the hole that the bolt goes in to hold the clutch on. It is much easier IMO.
WRONG!!!!!!!!! they do have drain plugs.... I did fluid change on my 05 M7 a couple of times and drain plug is THERE!!!!!!!!

You should always split the case and inspect your bearings and gears.It is very cheap insurance and only takes 25% more time.

WEll mine didnt but it does now and thnaks so much for the help.......all good and done...took it out split it cleaned it, drilled it cleaned it again and now all good thanks for all the help guys goes to show the cats stick togeather!!!!!

i just pulled the cover off and gave it a good cleaning it is faster than draining it out the plugSimilar threads
