I was wondering as well. It is literally downhill, and only one way out. I am guessing they either burried a sled, or had a mechanical failure.

With that said it is a pretty easy walk out of there (cough... done it once) LOL, good times.

all that & the fact that last night was probably the warmest january night that I can ever remember, gues they forgot their walkin' shoes.

even if they lost 1 sled they still could have made it no problem.

LOL! we ran out of gas late one night there and I left my companions and walked back to truck to get last sled and extra gas. So yeah I have walked it too.

I emailed the Summit Daily newspaper, but they haven't felt compelled to respond yet.

MtnDoo, good luck getting anyone from the Summit Daily or the Vail Daily to get back with you....I've tried many times before with no luck.
