New XP motor ride - Unfortunately, I hit a STEEL Pinecone

Sorry about your misfortune. Can we all learn from this. Certainly not about avoiding hidden objects but is there a clue in there about the drive shafts? Maybe extreme perpidicular forces such as hitting things, too tight on the track or jumping is the problem and not rotational forces such as pinning it with a slack chain, braking these drive shafts?

Your opinion?

I decided to not install the suspension on this XP, its going on my
Mod, er....... "Custom" sled I am building as a back up for when the motor goes again :D

Damage estimate $3278. Tunnel didnt get tweaked like we first thought.

First glad you are ok!!!! wotn ride wiht out my tekvest...too much fun to be had!!!

for that kind of carnage and the tunnel to be good is saying something about the tunnel...imagine there was some torque eatin up int eh frotn end, any signs of stress up front?

Sorry bout your luck Slim, I feel your pain! I got a story to cheer you up...at my expense.

So back in March 07, I was crossing the Henry fork River in IP, EPIC snow of course. I caught my front left ski on the handrail bracket which also was just slightly out of sight, needless to say it didn't budge much, and basically formed my '07 XRS into a circle. It is still in the process of being written off by insurance. So that is one sled down!

Now comes '08, get my new XP and riding southern BC at X-mas. Well I hit a large rock, again just slightly under the snow with the middle of my track, broke the driveshaft and chaincase. 4 hours to get it off the mountain. It is still at the dealer getting fixed!

So I am now riding old faithful...my '02 Summit! I either got to smarten up or sell the sleds and buy a boat. :rolleyes:

Gotta love this sport! :beer;

your enclosed came off the hitch early this winter as well? what a winter for ya slim. its like the XP has some kind of evil powers.

hope your up and running in the powder soon
