New XP motor ride - Unfortunately, I hit a STEEL Pinecone

CARNAGE!:(

Well, the new motor got a good break-in, got to about 20 miles, broke in the new 377 belts, was INSTANT throttle resposne, THEN....................

Jumped up off a plowed road the sherrif was giving tickets to about 25 sleds at IP village, So i took the high road embankment, and some F**K put a 6' "T"-Post down into the snow bank. 12" of new pow covered the post, As I hit the top of the bank I pinned it for a wheelie, caught the T-post square in the middle of the track in front of the scissor arm and took out the cross bar, then hit the scissor arm bar and bent it, then hit the rear axle and bent it in half, snapped BOTH rails and ripped the track 4 inchs. From the impact it thru me forward but the BEEWEAR protected me and no injury. The momentum of the full force power broke the driveshaft right off the chaincase side, havent looked inside the chaincase, but I suspect that is toast also............

About $3000 + damage, Rexburg Motor Sports is incredible, they have the track already ordered, have my new rails on hold, and we have ordered the big wheels and new shaft.

What a year, I guess the adage of bad luck comes in 3's holds true, I hope that is it, cause I shireley would like to just ride. All in all I am just getting drunk, knowing I could have gotten REAL hurt, its only money, and I will be back on the snow soon.

Be safe everyone.

sorry to here

That sucks large, hope you get back ridin pronto ............and maybe Lady Luck turns you a bit of a smile.

That sucks Slim. Before the tragedy, how did you like the new belt? I had a chance to try it today also, and really liked it. Seemed to grip good, and I didn't loose any performance compared to the 253. Not sure if it was the belt, but I couldn't get the sled to over rev no more. Might have to take a little weight back out of it.

Real sorry to see that kind of damage, hope you get back on the snow soon. I'm also curious about the tickets.

No worries

:D Its only metal and plastic :D ANd I am already 8 nfingers into my Jack Daniels bottle so it just don't matter ;)

The sherrif was giving tickets to sledders riding on a county road, its posted, we were crossing it. It's epic snow, IMO they are taking advantge of the need to use any plowed raod, but ya cant argue that sleds lose to pickups eh!

Our stupid forestry officals mark the cluverts with 1/2 " rebar. This is an accisent waiting to happen for ditch bangers so I go and push them over in the fall. Slim I think you need to take up another sport, have you tried ball room dancing?

I feel your pain, man.........

It could be worse. I can't seem to get any trips planned at all. I guess my sled just as well be toast, as sitting there waiting for me.
Eppic snow? That hurts.

Man, that is a real bummer. Always wondered what would happen if you hit one of those though.

Glad you didn't get hurt. How was the snow? My cousins lives there but he is in Oregon. Do you hang out in IP alot? I will be trippin out there presidents day weekend. Hope they get it fixed fast for you looks to be incredible out there.

They use little fiberglass rods here with a spring on the base....can ride right over them and no damage to sled or marker.

Stock Suspension

Unfortunately his luck got worse...see snojo thread....:(

Slim, was this the new suspension or the stock one?

I decided to not install the suspension on this XP, its going on my
Mod, er....... "Custom" sled I am building as a back up for when the motor goes again :D

Damage estimate $3278. Tunnel didnt get tweaked like we first thought.
