NEW WILDERNESS BILL

DONE!!!!

I'm tired of this.....He is literally contradicting himself on this one. Gov. Herbert just overturned the decision on streams and rivers being owned by private land owners and allowing access to the public. I watched as Matheson disagreed with the decision yet now he is doing the exact same thing. I am seriously sick of politicians....they do whatever will put money in thier cofers. Nothing but lobbiests and political jockying. :yell::yell::yell:

Apparently shutting down the Crest trail is no longer part of the proposal. A group of local MTB'ers got together and were able to remove this trail and a couple of others from the initial plan.

most likely becase they aren't motorized. can we design a sticker for our sleds to show they are hybrids? i often find myself pushing/pulling/tossing and even kicking to keep my sled moving.:face-icon-small-win that may get us somewhere.

I'm trying to look at the map, would this close of Mary Ellens as well?

zeb,
mary ellen is 90% private land/mining claims. same with major evans/mineral basin.

I want to know how the MTN bike group got their part changed? i want mineral fork to remain open to OHV. Do we have a local SAWS/blue ribbon contact person? anyone?

utah does not have a saws rep. The idaho rep fills in, but no one in utah ever stepped up to the plate.

as far as the mountain bikers go. IMBA which is a big land use organization for mountain bikers have a whole new strategy. not good for mutliple use. But it gets things done for them. Basically they want to be good greenies and they work with the green groups to bend boundaries for areas that fit them. The green groups like it becasue it is "quiet recreation". so the 2 groups work together to form partnerships and form the boundaries together.

I was a member of imba for 10 years and resigned after learning of this new technique.

its only a matter of time before the greenies stab them in the back... ridiculous...

It's funny you bring that up. Chad Booth was just at my work and got us talking about land use and how the Mtn Bikers play middle ground. They get the best of both sides and truly support none (lame).

If anyone is interested in stepping up to volunteer their time to be a SAWS Rep for Utah, just contact Dave Hurwitz, SAWS Chairman.
