new toy for Abby!!

Abby was getting sick of lugging around an M1000 but wouldn't be happy with a lower HP sled, so...


We finally put our hat in the turbo game. We drove to logan UT & picked up a cutler race gas turbo M8 HCR with a narrow front end for Abby.
We're heading out today to run it for the first time, 8-12 psi sled (no intercooler), we're running 8psi for now with 2gal race gas, should be fun!

It uses an attitude box which I've never used before, any tips on the turbo or the attitude box if anyone is running them would be SWEET!!

this is the new toy, we should have some shots of our own pretty soon!

Took it out for a ride, fun sled but at 7-8psi it's just a hair stronger than my 1000 but the longer track makes it less fun.

Turned out about the way I expected, the feel like the turbo at just around 8psi was about 10hp stronger than the 1000 with very minimal mods. If I wanted to turn it up it'd be stronger no doubt, but then you need more race gas.
These pump gas turbos are decent, but it seems to me that for how much more there is to worry about you could build a NA sled for much less.
I happened to run across an M8 with the race gas turbo in it already with 283 miles for 10k in great shape, so I pulled the trigger, can't say I would consider doing this to a new sled, we'll see! Once we get the clutching perfect & get it dialed for our altitude I may change my tune.


Abby loves it though, THAT is all that matters!! (and it's better for her if I'm not in love with the thing!!!)

It's pretty decent up there, not much melting yet.

We got a TON of snow from this last storm.

we only used up about 3 gallons, so I think we'll put 2 more gallons of race gas in it & turn it up next weekend, 10-11psi should get me over that "not too impressed with the turbo" stage!!!

As a turbo owner I will say that there is a BIG difference between 8 and 10 PSI and if you go to 12 you will deffinately be a believer. (On my 700 RMK anyway).

Also as long as you don't do something stupid, like hook up your intercooler fan and oil pump backwards , there really isn't that much to worry about over a N/A sled once you get used to it. (and I realize you don't have an intercooler or fan, I sorta did that on mine and torched the center section)

Congrats on the new toy and That was a SMOKING DEAL on that setup and should serve you well.

Yeah, a 10k sled with a 6500 dollar turbo (this one has a BOV also, not stock on a cutler setup) for 10k, I'm happy.



As for the comparison, we've got lots of very strongly modded sleds here & the turbo should compare well, but my main point is it's not the magic button people think it is. I ran against a few turbos running 7.5 or so lbs (Dave's didn't count cause it wasn't set up yet) and they're strong, but not as strong as Qreiff's setup for example, or my sled last year.
btw, if it can't beat my little 141 in the pow... I'll donate it to 570MC myself!!!

The pump gas turbos being marketed as 6psi being the baddest thign ever is complete BS, (the RTR is the main machine I'm talking about) they're a strong sled, but bring a good tuner 1/2 the $$ of the turbo & they'll beat that PG turbo easily.
