So I just bought a 12 pro rmk 800, it was a hard toss up as I really like the etec, never did like Polaris, but I admit that the pro chassis seems pretty amazing and it came down to I'd rather replace a arms than bulkhead nuns when I hit trees.

This gonna be my spare sled so it will prolly just get a pipe and can, but what are some things that should be done, or issues to address or watch out for.

Thx Spenser

I would probably look at changing the primary spring out as I know quite a few stock ones breaking. SLP Blue pink (140/340) or blue red(140/320) will work depending on your elevation. Sure there are others that will work.

Stock is 140/330.

I dare say it wont stay as the spare for very long. Haha they have a tendency to take over and shove the old sled into storage.

best results I have found..slp blue/pink with a set of heel heavy weights and 2 delrin washers in the secondary....clutch to get 8000 to 8100 on the memory recall(dont watch the tach, it cant keep up with the motor)going over 8100 on recall makes the sled not perform as good even though it feels better to the butt dyno...check chaincase fluid(most are a little low) keep the track tensioned right...make sure its not rubbing on the rear suspension mnts(remove bolts add 2 flat washers between bracket and suspension arm on each side to make more clearence)....you need to seal the footwells to keep snow off the clutches on deep days..mike taylor on here makes a nice setup for these.....other then that..watch out bottoming the suspension hard..especially with weight on the tunnel....oh..and have a blast..they are fun sleds...

Thx for the info, for those that think it will convert, haha me and my 4 stroke buddies got these for toy sleds, the price was right, the chassis seems great, I just needed something to get me by while I build my ultimate turbo 4 stroke, then the gf can play with this sled.
Any reccomendations for a nice loud can?

I wish I had a GF that rode 4 stroke turbo's so I could use her new Pro back-up sled.

EDIT: But if you want a nice loud exhaust, put a BD turbo on it follow your GF around all day.

I have an HPS can and it sounds great in my opinion. Not loud and annoying.

BMP Powder lite. Just put one on my pro and wow. louder than my buddies cat with a MBRP. Very Loud. Price tag is rite too.

Put a turbo and a three inch track on the pro and you'll have a 1000 times more fun on it than you 4 stroke and you won't be tired out at the end of the day haha. The pro makes you such a better rider in my mind

skip the can. leave it stock or if you want a pipe set do an SLP stage kit. Get it through the break-in period. Run best pump fuel available. change clutching if you want, stock performs well, custom clutching performs great. do F-bomb track mod if you want (its free). Ride the heck outa it... :face-icon-small-coo

fiirst : thing to do it sealing the TPS connectors....remove the rubber boot on the connector and put dialectic grease (a must), water/moisture get in and make the TPS go crazy
second: check the wiring loom on the speed sensor and make sure it is n ot rubbing on the secondary(fix it better than polaris!) very often it is causing short circuit because the wire are exposed to the clutch after to much rubbing and also put dialectic grease in the connector of this one too.
third: pay attention to your reverse switch, had a lot of problem with my 2011 rmk on that switch causing the ecu thinking i was trying to go reverse and was making the sled idling like ****(switch was grounded).
FOUR: PUT some protection over your spark plug wires, they are rubbing on a transversal bar to the frame and when they are mess up, ignition goes bad.

other then that, it is pretty ok sled!! so light.....

happy sledding!

Fill up the fluids. Pull rope.

Loud pipes kill riding areas. And power. With less back pressure (unless you have a proper tuned pipe to compensate) more unburned fuel gets sucked out the exhaust port while it's open, thus taking fuel away from combusting giving a smaller boom with each spark. But, if you want a louder sled that annoys people that already don't like sledders and less power, go for it. Straight pipe that soam btch.

So he gets this "girlfriend" sled going and actually rides it....and we'll assume he can ride not just hang on.

What is the over/under on the "ultimate four stroke turbo" never happening?

Hey F,, what is your mod? Thought I read it is to the track don't come over here much but I do like mods that work,,,, especially if they are FREE......

Wow u guys need snow down there, no need for sarcasm and pointless comments. So answer some responses, my gf doesnt have any sleds haha, but wants to come riding more instead of going snowboarding so the pro is perfect sled to have with and its super light for her since shes only 5ft. i am involved in my sled club, we don't have the issues of loud cans and area closures, like in states. And I am building a turbo nypex, my definition of an ultimate sled.

Thanks to others for helpful posts to help keep my pro in good shape.

Edit: I would not run a loud can if it had negative effects for our future riding here, but it doesn't and if that ever changes I will put stock or a quiet can on.

What if it simply made you go slower? If you want to throw away money just send the $400 to me. I'll call you everyday and tell you how cool your sled sounds! :face-icon-small-ton

3 things you do to a PRO if you want to GO
trim stock track
PA head
my clutching

If you have coin and want a sled that rides as good as it goes add Fox Shox package ... some powder coating.... some vinyl so the snow don't stick... and some Better Boards. Go ride...you'll get over a four stroke turbo in about two days...or five minutes of being back on one after you've become accustomed to a Perfect PRO. Going really fast and straight is super fun for about three times up the hill. For the other 4,000 miles you ride the PRO is vastly superior.
