New To Polaris..Clutching Questions

Just snowchecked a 2012 Pro R 800SB,This will be my First Polaris sence my 1995 XLT600SP so my clutching experiance with Polaris may be alittle Dated..lol, but i have owned a ton of Cats and a couple of Yamaha's.
Im Wondering which Adjustable weights seem to work the best? Myself and my Riding Buddies do alot of Friendly Drag Racing so i'd like to make a decent showing next winter.Any Clutching Tips would Be great.
Great site
Thanks!!

What elevation is Nova Scotia? Typically for drag racing your run as steep of a helix as you can muster and lots of weight. Softer belt will give you better grab (but lower your r's).

I'm by no means the foremost in info for Pol clutching myself, I'm pretty new too.

But some options I've found are:

$100 = EPI Belly Buster weights [NOT adjustable]
$99 = -11 Polaris weights [NOT adjustable]
$89-105 = SLP MTX adj. weights
$205 = Dalton adj. weights
$225 = MDS adj. weights (last I contacted, these were currently not available for the Pol...)

If I 'try' anything, I think I'll give the SLP's a shot, due to price.. And it seems there are more SLP wt users around who can help with tuning suggestions.

Thanks for the Replys
As for Elevation, we are pretty much Sea Level..The highest we ride is 3000feet.Dalton Industries is located here in NS so i use there componets alot..just wasn't sure how there weights worked in these polaris's or if there may be a more aggressive Profiled weight available. The Team Secondary is all new to Me..I've been reading about Delrin Washers but am not sure if these Change the Spring Preload or the Helix angle..guess i have lots to learn about Polaris.

Use one Delrin washer in the Secondary and place it on the bottom side of the cup(per Team's recommendation). Not under the spring, but under the cup. Some guys use 2 or 3, but that might change the preload a little. One eliminates any potential binding and that's all you're looking for.

Never ridden at Sea Level(you're a lucky man to be able to feel all those ponies), so I couldn't tell you what to do regarding weights.

Have fun and enjoy!

Yes My previous Sleds would all pull alot of Weight compared to Stock ..Being at Sea level and Having Nice Crisp Air Quality makes for a good running engine. So Mainly all the washers do is free up the Secondary and make sure there is no Binding inside..thats good to know for Sure.
Can't wait to start tuning this Sled..Thanks for the Info.

try this...it worked in our dragons..runs a touch warmer in the pros....68 gram mtx weights, slp green/pink spring, 62/42/.46 helix, black/purple polaris sec spring, and 3 delrins..set it to pull 82-8300...any higher and it will hit the rev limiter, any lower and it wont run as hard...also, try to load any rivit weight toward the center hole..so you would have 2 gram belly, 1 gram tip.....or 3 gram belly, 2 gram tip..this should work right from sealevel on a stock pro....gearing down to 19/42 or 19/43 will help as well........

Hey AK, when you gear down like you suggested, are you losing track speed or is it being made up in the secondary? I ran a 42 on my Dragon and lost speed but I had other issues at the time so I can't say it was from the gearing. Thanks

we didnt give up any track speed in pow(overall ground speed flat out across a trail or lake..yes), what it does do is make the sled snappier in the tight stuff, and helps belt temps ......
