New to Methow Valley- where to go

Hi friends. New to this forum. Look forward to meeting other sledders and having a great 2011/2012 season riding in the PNW.

My girlfriend secured a week long stay for us in Winthrop during the last week of December 2011 and we are looking forward to checking out what the area has in store for winter activity. Specifically, we would like to head into the backcountry for snowmobiling and sled-assisted skiing. For those of you who have already done a fair amount of exploring, can you please share your experiences and perhaps some areas that we would want to check out?

Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. :)

Harts Pass and Washington Pass will be the spots. You really really need to be careful though, Avy danger is almost sure to be through the moon at the end of December.
Most people do the sled assist ski'ing deal up on Highway 20 (Washington Pass)

Its a great area! Just be extremely careful and aware of the Avy danger

Hi TreeThrasher. Thank you for the tips on where to go and we appreciate your advice regarding the avy danger. We will keep a trained eye on conditions as the season evolves.

If anybody is in the neighborhood the last week of December, feel free to PM us if you're interested in teaming up and riding together (the girlfriend and I are both intermediate level riders).
