New to me Dura

Ok in talking to the guys up in Eagle, ID here is what I will start with

Programmer: EFI Live with Edge Edge CTS touch screen monitor

Intake: they suggest S&B Dry. I think I want the AFE

Lift Pump: they suggest Air Dog II. I think I want the Fass 150

EGR Delete: they suggest SDP. I really have no opinion here except some have optional colors and I may want something pretty (****I will likely start with just an EGR Block)

Tranny: they suggest a PPE Kit. Sounds good, but I have read folks prefer Suncoast and get more for less with same quality. Thoughts?

So what I know I am starting with:

1) EFI Live with Edge CTS Monitor

2) EGT Block

3) AFE Turbo Mouthpiece

4) Expadable EGT Probe ( not sure of brand)

Next (down the road) will be:

Intake: Your Thoughts on Brand?

EGR Delete: Your Thoughts on Brand?

Lift Pump: Fass 150. Any Diagreement on Brand?

New Exhaust: MBRP Turbo Back 5" in Black

TRANNY: the big question that I have to get right PPE ok? Suncoast?

Send it!

a lot of people prefer the s&b or banks intakes because they are true cold air intake with a fully enclosed box where most of the other brands are an open element with just a heat shield. one of the bigger benefits of s&b is they tend to be cheaper priced compared to the others.

i was planning an egr delete, but now cache valley is planning on starting emissions testing so I'll probably stick with the blocker for easy removal if need be. i don't know much about the sdp, but i have heard good things about the profab stuff. profabs not real well known but is suppose to be real good quality.

from what i understand the fass and airdog are pretty much the same, the airdog ll
is popular because it is a complete kit and pretty much plug and play.

for the tranny, suncoast is probably the more popular choice but a lot of people like the ppe. there's a guy on most the forums called mike l. who is supposed to be the allison god that knows pretty much all there is to know about the allisons. he's in cali, i believe his shop is inglewood transmission, people say he's real good to talk to and will tell you everything you need to know about the alli. just thought i'd throw that out there.

I have been very happy with my 05 Duramax. I have an AFE stage 2 cold air intake, juice with attitude tuner, 4 inch turbo back MBRP exhaust. I had the head gaskets go out at 85,000 miles last year as well. I stopped by the dealer just the other day and saw another truck same year and similar miles with same problem. When I had my heads machined I was told the head was slightly off from the factory. On the truck that was in shop the other day it was the same side (left I believe) and same place (rear). Repair calls for 32 shop hours and about a 1000.00 dollars worth of parts, so not cheap. Still am very happy with the truck and would buy another one.

Here is what I went with and what I will do next.

S&B mouthpiece
3" downpipe
5" DP back painted black
EGR block
PCV reroute
EFI LIVE with CTS
Fuel Lab Velocity 200
Nictane and Cat

Next:
Volant Power Cool Intake with Donaldson
Dmax Store Front End
5-7 Black tip
PPE tranny
Rator liner on rockers
Other goodies to look good
