New to colorado

So having just moved to the granby area. Getting a snowmobile was on my mind day one
Im lookin at a skidoo now(i owned my own pwcshop and loved seadoos)
Iv been reading up on the rules local trailes and such but i can not find out bout riding on or beside the roads ie state county city roads.

Im kind new to snowmobiles. Im from indiana just not enough snow to keep one around there but been on atvs dirtbikes jetskis bout anything with a motor. Infact first thing i ever rode alone was a old snowmobile my dad had when i was like 8 or 9 so iv been on one just not in like 16 or 18 years lmao

Welcome to Colorado. Each town and/or county has it's own rules. I remember a friend telling me that Granby no longer allows sleds in town but I could be wrong. I tried the town website, but didn't find anything about snowmobiling. In fact, when I did a search on the word "snowmobile" I got nothing. That is strange.

Regardless, once you become more sled savy in Colorado, you will find that you will want to get out to the good stashes and avoid the trails. There are lots of good riding areas up there.

There's a lot of sledding right out the back door, none of which you can ride your sled from the house, We'll show you around once the snow fly's.

Sounds good man.
I know grand lake allows or did allow on the roads. Ik my dad talked to the office of the condo were moving into they said they have trails that run back up from the property and i guess you can acess the grand lake trails from there and infact ride to winter park. Or so they said
I figured riding on or beside highway 40 would be a state issue

Grand Lake is the only town you can ride sleds out of in Grand County. But truth be told your better off just getting to the trailhead and going from there. It snows a lot more just a bit higher here in Colorado. If Granby gets an inch the trail system gets 2-12" depending on elevation.

First trail ride is usually around halloween and the real riding begins in December and last through mid May on a normal year. Every year is different of course. I road with Tec beginning of October a few years ago in 4' and rode to June 18th. Last couple of years no so much.
