Its an atwood rv forced air furnace. This unit is a excaliber 35k btu model if I remember right. I got it from Pleasureland RV in St Cloud, MN they had a bunch of surplus another member had found. Suburban also makes RV furnaces and both make them from 15k to 40k btus I think biggest difference is atwood muta there exhaust pipe inside the intake and surban uses 2 pipes side by side.

I believe my Atwood uses air for combustion from inside the trailer and suburban pulls air from outside. Why the difference would be nice to know.

I find that odd I've had 4 different Atwoods between my campers and enclosed trailers and all of them used outside air for the combustion air. There is an outer 3.5" tube for the combustion with an inner 1.5" pipe for the exhaust. The piece on the outside makes it look like there is just an exhaust though.

ndmtnsledder I sent pm but looking for ball park figure on this trailer. How long did it take you to get it?

I responded to some of your questions on the PM. As far as how long it took to get it that was a test in patience. We ordered the last week of June and received it in Oct. The first one showed up the end of Aug but someone made a mistake in the plans and it came in 7ft wide instead of 8ft. We reordered right away and added a few more options that took longer but they still pushed it through pretty fast.

Figured I would add a few more pictures to. I got the rest of the bunk walls insulated and sheeted. I hung a light in the bunk and ran a switch. Finished all the furnace duct work and made a couple doors for the propane storage and another cupboard built into the steps. My next step it to cover up the furnace itself then on to the main bench.

Figured I'd put another update up. It doesn't seem like a lot of progress but its taken quite a bit of work. I finally got the furnace all sheeted off and finished. Then I started working on the kitchen which has been a big project and a lot of planning to squeeze it all in a small place. I welded the frame up for the bench and got it bolted and tacked into the trailer. I'm using a side mount toolbox for drawers which worked out to the perfect height. I had a local shop bend me up a stainless counter top that fits perfect. The next big stop was getting the Tripp Lite Inverter, charger, converter in wired to outlets and working it will eventually run the fridge off the batteries on the road. I built a partition wall to give some privacy to the front bunk area next. Right now I'm working on the plumbing and have it about half done. There is a 13gallon fresh water tank, 8 gallon grey tank, sink, pump and 110v water heater to get all plumbed together. I'm really getting ready to get this project wrapped up.

I figured it was time to add a few more pictures. I've come quite a ways on the front counter kitchen area. It doesn't look like much but there is a lot going on in a small space. I have the sink, fridge, microwave, pump, water heater, inlets, and outlets all mounted along with all there wiring and plumbing. I put a Tripp-Lite inverter, charger, converter in that works like a charm it will run the fridge or microwave off the battery. I got a spot in the bottom left corner with a small panel that comes out were eventually a shower-toilet room can hook in for the summer. Today I started tackling the cabinet doors. I got one done and then got talked into a drawer and cabinet door for the middle section so that's next.

Well its basically done for now. I finished up the last part of the cabinet. My wife convinced me she wanted a drawer I think it turned out pretty good. Got everything cleaned up the pump and furnace are fully wired now. I had a friend come over the other night and we got all the diamond tread hung along the bottom 2 feet of the wall. I pulled it out of the farm shop and ran it over the scale on the way home. It came out to 6300 pounds but I'm guessing I had about 200#s of extra material, tools, and a portable table saw. That works out to I added about 1200#s to it. I figure that's not to bad for adding a fridge, furnace, 80ft of etrack, battery, full LP tank, stainless countertop, toolbox, and a bunch of aluminum. We need to find a bed for the front area yet and I'm hoping to work on building a removable shower-toilet yet this winter but I can build that in my smaller shop.

that is badass! as i said earlier in the post, it is nice to have a multi-use trailer. i would love something like this, but the wife would never go for it :face-icon-small-dis

Thanks for the compliments. Its kept me busy this winter. We've had a horrible winter at home and do to some stuff I didn't get my usual trip out west this winter but it will be ready to go for next winter. I've kind of let it be for a few weeks to play with some other projects but hoping to get back to it the beginning of March. I decided the kitchen area is to dark and got one more light for it. The Indoor-Outdoor carpet I ordered came in finally so I'll get that cut to fit. The plan is to roll it up in the winter and just run ski boots in the trailer. We also need to decide on a mattress for the front area, I'm thinking a quality air mattress or futon mattress but we'll have to see what the wife says. I think I've got some good ideas going for the shower-toilet room now and hoping to get that done before we get in the field. The kids are getting excited about going camping.

The one thing I've been trying to figure out is a good way to store tie straps. Does anyone have a good system they like. I need a better way then I had in my old trailer so they stay untangled and aren't flopping around and hitting everything.

Well its basically done now. I got the carpet put in today I decided to put it under the etrack and use that to hold it down. I'll have to put a piece of flat strapping down were there isn't etrack to hold it in place yet but it worked out good. I also put the finishing touches on the bathroom toilet shower combo. Its not really sled related but it helps making these nice sled trailers useable more of the year.

Very impressive mods to your trailer! Do you typically keep the trailer for 5-10 years? Camping in the summer? On trips do you actually stay in the trailer at a trailhead for a few days? Curious how that works with food, low temps, etc.

It's cool to see what a person who has the right skills and equipment can do with an enclosed trailer.

I kept my last trailer for 8years that I had bought used and it was 13 years old. We never have and don't really have any plans to camp when sledding although it would be doable. I'd want a better battery setup though. We are 900 miles from were we ride and usually go for 4 days. I don't think there has ever been a trip were we didn't have to do some repair and have done a few pretty major ones. My biggest thing is I was tired of owning and maintaining two trailers. This way our camper and sled trailer is all in one. It also gives me the option to bring kayaks, bikes, or the rzr4 with when we go camping. Not something any toy haulers in my price range or size I was willing to pull is capable of. The plan for this trailer is it will be around for atleast 10years probably more. The quality of the trailer it shouldn't be a problem at all.
