My bud said he seen a new QD belt and tensioner, that they use with the stock pulleys. Anybody have info on this? thks

Ive seen the kit at my local recreation shop. Not sure who is making it but i do no it uses stock pulleys with a different belt which is a bit longer. Ill see who is making the kit next time im there.

Any chance its Parkland Motor sports out of Alberta??

Has anyone experienced the QD belt getting TIGHTER as it warms up.

I have slack in mine. I can pinch the belt together between the pulleys and lift the belt up off the teeth on the top pulley.

When my belt is WARM, it's tight. Noticed it all season.

NO BS.

Would be interesting to mic it straight out of the freezer... and then in 150 degree F hot water... would be interested in the change.

When I installedd my C3, Kevin informed me that the sheaves expand quite a bit when they get to running temps. When I ran it the first couple rides, 3/4" deflection in the shop turned into the belt being extremely tight when riding and checking the belt tension when warm. I probably have about 1" of deflection on my C3 when in the shop and that gives me the recommended 1/2" of deflection on the belt tension when warm. So there is quite a bit of expansion on the sheaves.

It would also be interesting to measure a bunch of different QD belts to see how consistent they are.

Hi ken i talked to the reps present at puyallup show last nite. the new q.d belt will be 40% thicker and possibly a diff compond.no tensioner. new higher quality jackshaft and drivshaft bearings, take it for what its worth.

Seen this one in person from Ryder Performance. Seems to be working well

i don't think it is 40% thicker, it is 40% stronger under "normal" temperatures, 25% stronger under "high" temps.

Not a good place to mount it... needs to be referenced on something that cannot move in relationship to the drive centers.

Also... that tensioner is not on the normal "slack side"...that tensioner will deform the steering hoop easily... The forces involved are more than you would imagine.

Good effort and looks like good construction... but not with an understanding of the belt drive and the normal loads imposed on the device.

A hard packing into the console on a landing or creek bed crossing would have that tensioner all over the place.

thats why i said take what they were dishin out for what its worth.but two reps did say thicker, they also said the belts fail after long hard road rides.very seldom on the hill not the guys we ride with. all steep all deep some last longer then others.

You know me Mr Fast, I'm very slow getting down the road to the hill so I don't have to climb the steep stuff. Ya know when a rep tells ya something, its got to be right. I guess will see how long the 2014 belts holds in there.

My QD belt was too tight 'til about 800 miles. I see no reason for a tensioner with the stock length belt.

A longer belt and a tensioner might help the bearings a little though. If it is adjusted properly.

Poo may have a better compound on the new belt with more dimentional stability over a larger temp range.
