New Pro hood system and Bumper. Thoughts?

Cool, hood hinges, one less thing for me to tackle, just buy.

I'll take one.

I love that hood!!! Such a pain right now, didnt ever think they would make a sled you cant tip the hood up???:face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-con

Like the hood idea, but I'm curious about the latch system and wondering why it hinges back instead of forward? Car hoods have safeguards to keep the hood from coming up while going down the road, and yet I have seen two where the thing flew up at highway speeds=broken hood/windshield. I don't think I would be stoked to have the hood slam me in the face doing 70 down the trail. Then again maybe you have something figured out to prevent this from happening, I would like to know more about the latch. Thanks

Outlaw,

1st, I think you may be on to a great idea with the hood. Like M7 said the hood opens up from the front and not the rear folding forward like most sleds always have sort of like comparing most cars to most corvettes.

2nd, You keep pretty busy and appear to continuing to think outside the box. I recall you were directly involved with the fix coolant thermostat coupler for some of the poo's? I liked your idea but was never convinced it was the fix but the last time I followed that thread on the IQ's it appeared to function as promised.

3rd, I was surprised to see that horrid bumper and yes I read it was just a rough prototype but it looks like the sled actually ran into something and it was still stuck to the front of the sled.

Seriously please do not take a bumper comment above personally and keep up the good work it looks like you have some good ideas that you have put a lot of thought and effort into!

The d ring things that hold the side panels on (what are those called again?)...are those what hold the front down, or is a good old fashioned rubber hood tie down gonna be needed up front behind the bumper?

the only question i have is will it work with stock windshield and hand guards? dosn't look like it will. i know most of you are thinking what a :baby: but i like having some wind protection. lol great idea though.

Well it looks like you can't tip it all the way up with a full windshield, that's for sure.
But the low profile shields might be OK.

Are the hinges "stop hinges" for however far the hood goes up it will hold it there...(ie if it has a taller windshield). Are they sprung or static?

I hope the video and Pics answered most of the questions. The Low windsheild is not a Problem at all. The Mid will swing between the mountain bar and the bar pad. I currently have a tall on order to verify that it will swing over the top of the Mountain bar. As soon as I verify I will post the results. Our kit is a positive latch but we do delete the Torx screws that seem to cross thread the second time they are installed. We also deleted the Push darts that had a habit of poping completly out and getting lost in the snow. If the Pics and video do not answer your questions please feel free to ask. I am trying to keep up with the questions on facebook, snowest and the ones that walk into our shop.
Regards
T

Well I like your thinking, but I don't think that it is for me. I do like the snaps instead of the push pins and kinda like the clips instead of the torx screws. As far as the hinge part, I might as well take the hood all the way off. Maybe you could sell just the snaps and clip system without the hinge.
