New polaris sled.

WOW. WTF? Crazy.
I can't open the ultimate sledder link...is that where you guys got the full version. I guess it leaked eh?

I heard there was going to be a shock under the seat and I had no idea how it was going to work. Hmmmm. Innovative I guess. I can't see that going into the mtn segment...but then crazier things HAVE happened in the past.

Scott... another thread says someone hacked the Polaris website and pulled the final picutre....

I am thinking tunnel with cut out for the shock area... I am sure Van Am could build a tunnel for that deal....

that is one weird A$$ looking sled! not impressed!
on the 24th, are they showin all of the 2010 models on the polaris sight?
thanks

Hey guys,
I take it you all got the e-mail from Polaris about the new sled and the picture that had the snow mound in front of it, I hope they don't go that way with all there sleds, I like the way they look now. That must be the new snow cross sled, thats what it looks like anyway. Kinda has the skidoo look to it, from what I can see.

all I know is dirt bikes suspensions make sleds suspension look stupid and this thing is a big step towards a dirt bike. Pol could have short track domination next year, will be interesting to see if they make a mtn version.

yeah but Bikes weigh 250lbs, not 500lbs?
pretty pathetic if ya ask me.

Well at least my source was right:)

It looks kinda weird but if it works the way they say it does polaris took a step towards the future.

I for one am sick of getting beat up trail riding and being sore for three days after. If the thing works i do not care what it looks like(unless it is a yamaha:eek:)

any one that follows 4 wheelers and bike suspension should have a pretty good idea what polaris was going for with there rear skid

unsprung weight

You couldn't give me a Polaris, but I think it looks pretty whicked. Must be the snocrosser in me.

Seems to be a lot of people talking trash about it but it would be funny if it CRUSHED everything else at the X-games.

The high seat will not be good in the mountains, unless your a fat lump sit down groomed trail basher. Trail riding does not require the amount of side to side body shifting that mountain riding does.

At least they are trying something different, unlike everyone else.

Yamaha's mono shock was the best riding suspension on the market, it just needed a diet. Perhaps this is it.

i agree with you man, 100%

I thought that at first too, but now I'm not sure. Everything the bottom of that shock is attached too is sprung weight, which includes the extra linkage, the upper rear idler and the snowflap. It all pivots on the top of the tunnel. My guess is the rear upper idler wheel moves with the suspension, which might mean more consistent track tension through the arc of it's movement. Notice it doesn't even have coupler blocks, so the geometry is controlling the weight tranfer another way.

What insight!

Single skis are gay:D:D:D:D:D

If it had been a singe ski design this forum would be on fire with activity, now you fellas get to bicker about nothing!

It''s too bad the manufacturers have narrowed the minds of the consumer so much with the same old thing over and over.

I have much more respect for the individual that takes the same old and putts his own spin on it like this.

I don't think the seat is any higher than the current RMK's

I think this thing is pretty cool. The real advantage to the suspension is the centralization of the suspension forces at the center of gravity of the sled. This is what the rear suspension on motorcycles and solid axle atv's have been doing for years. This is what the real advantage of single shock suspensions on bikes had over the twin shock set up. This will make the sled ride much better. As for the looks, I like it, I think they will put a full tunnel on it for year 2 or 3 though. As for storage and wind protection...that was not the target market. The are marketing it towards aggressive riding/ditchbanging, not trail touring..... Less weight, better suspension, minimal bells and whistles...sounds good. Let the people that want a wind screen that works buy one, same with storage. Don't force me to buy what I don't want.

lol
When Doo first came out with their new design everyone talked up how hidious it looked and how they would never own one.

Before you think third year think about the M1000 catastrophy. I bought one thinking the third year would be the best. I was wrong maybe year 6?

09 m1000 best stock mountain sled I've ever road, If you disagree bring any stock sled to the mountains and the only catastrophic thing you will witness is your a$$ getting handed to you:beer;:beer;:D You must have got a lemon because mine is working quite well and know of others that work just as good.

What do you get when AC, Doo, Poo, Yami and a dirt bike have and orgy??? A 2010 race sled. Could be the bomb if it comes out, Always nice to see new Ideas. I don't think it will work as a m-sled though.

Unsprung mass isn't what they were looking for. They were looking for a rising rate rear suspension. Nobody has that in the industry yet. Now Polaris has it, but more importantly, they've got the patents for it.

If you look at bikes and even quads, they're swing arms provide a rising rate as the suspension moves through it's travel. Look at the shock on the rush. As the suspension compresses, the moment arm on the shock gets smaller, providing a rising rate. Every other suspension (that I've seen) on snow has a falling rate.

I might be the first to say this but i think it looks SWEEET, I like change and this is change!!! It will take sometime to get used to it but it looks like it should rip!!!

Hopefully they come out with a Black assault!!
