New Pistons

SPI makes a great cast piston. I have used them for years with no issues at all !

uh oh i can see the fight starting now... wiesco vs oem... i have ran them both cant tell a diff, i would go for the spi like said above they are cheaper and like i said i cant tell a diff

I did a lot of research before buying new ones for preventative maintenance...and SPI came out well. On here guys were even posting about using them on their turbo sleds and them holding up. I never did find one bad thing about them, and the price is right as well. :)

Whats wrong with the Wiseco pistons? I am going to assume that the guy who has problems probably doesnt warm his sled up! That being said if you dont warm em up Good any piston will give you a problem!!

Stock is expensive in my opinion!

Wiseco is good for me, I run them in my Tcat and I think it spins up quicker

SPI stock alternative, I have seen the ring end gap to tight on these and that will cause failure quicker than no warm up

I have seen the pins in Wiseco be off center side to side!

All that said if your just gonna slap it together get the stockers!! If you go the SPI and your end gap is tight youll need a ring file ect. Measure twice, Cut once!
MY 02 Good luck

How would the end gap of the rings be determined by the piston? I thought the bore was the deciding factor? Unless the rings come with the SPI pistons? Then that would be the problem!

That's not a terribly good assumption IMO. From what I've experienced and read, it seems to be very hit and miss with Weiscos. We had major issues with locating pins on four engines. Never cold seized one though.

We've run the SPI pistons in our 900s for years, and will run them in our 975s when we run out of our supply of OEM ones.

Many very experienced people have had bad luck with weiscos, many people have had great luck with them. I've not heard much at all bad about SPIs.

Ring end gap is not determined by the piston! Its ring in the bore then check gap!

I have never sees a locator pin come out! That doesnt mean it wont happen!

Has any one tried the MCB pistons (I think) on Ebay? I put a set in my buddies doo last year, so far so good (They look like SPI's?0

Ok I have been looking at Pistons I see the top 3 then the others 1 being MCB and then some no names? I know there are only maybe 3 companies that Mfg. pistons, whats the chances that all the SPI's,MCB's,No names's...coated pistons are the same?
