New people to ride with?

I ride with a great group of guys. I am a service
Tech at a John Deere dealership so in return the people I ride with are all farmers or ranchers so when March rolls around my riding season is done due to them wanting to get in the fields and brand their cattle. My question is this, I've seen quite a few guys post on here especially under the riding conditions section looking for other people to ride with. How well did this work? If it did work were these people you just met up with accepting of your riding ability or did they put you in situations that you were uncomfortable with? I've only been riding 3 years and sure don't want to hold anybody back and dang sure don't want them to get annoyed with me and just leave me either. I would really like to go again this year with all the snow that has fallen in the last week but worried that if I go Riding with some people I don't know they won't be concerned with my safety as much as if it's a group
Of guys I'm used to.

That really depends on the people.
I have had a few people come my way, most are now my regular group. We push each other a little bit to get better at the sport but always make sure everyone is comfortable.
If people are uncomfortable with the terrain, i will try to find terrain than fits their style. If they are a long ways from riding the style i like , i will try to teach them what i do, if that is not what they like , then they usually let me know.

I think most guys are going to be pretty good. We usually go to spots that have something for everyone, or close to that anyway. Just let the guys know ahead of time your experience and go from there. Everyone was in your position at one time or another, and I personally think its fun watching the newer guys make a climb or a sidehill for that they didn't think they could make. Riding with guys that have more experience is good for your game too. It wont take long before you are doing stuff that you didn't think you could do, or couldn't do the last trip.

Back in 2012 I posted up that I was going riding and needed someone to ride with. I've been riding with those same guys a few times a year ever since. Get out there and meet other riders!

I know there's alot of snow left in Colorado right now. Never been down there before. Only place I've rode is the Snowy Range. I've read really good things about Colorado areas would like to head down there maybe next year and hopefully Yellowstone. I was all set to head up to the Snowies today with my boss but he had some stuff come up and he was unable to get away. This is what brought about the question of posting in riding areas looking for a group of people to ride with.

WELL SIR IF YOU EVER FEEL LIKE DRIVING 2HRS PAST SNOWY IM MORE THEN HAPPY TO RIDE WITH ANYONE, JUST HIT ME UP :)

Over the last 15 years I have went on trips with 50-75 different people I had never meet before. Overall it worked out very well, I would say there was only 1-2 people I wouldnt ever want to ride with again. Never had any major issues, but I would try and get a general idea on what kind of riding they want to do. Eric

I had answered a post request from someone a guy who was in the area for a day and wanted to ride. It was early April and mid-week which I was more likely to be off. I responded and we set a time and location to meet and ride. We spent the day riding, had a great time and had the area to ourselves. At the end of the day we stopped for a couple of beers. During our discussion he mentioned that I had issued him a ticket not once but twice within the past 10 years for snowmobile license violations. I felt kind of embarrassed and apologized. He had no problems with the tickets and understood I was just doing my job. Great guy and I would ride with him again in a heartbeat.

I have been making some destination snowmobile trips the last several years on my own and simply hook up with whatever group in the parking lot looks likes fun. The best part is you don't have to worry about dealing with difficult folks and how to please them, because in the end you could really care less. Being 54, gray, old and saggy, some will say," You can ride with us if you can keep up", never been a problem. I've found that most my riding buddies gave up the sport at around 45 pursuing wealth building, careers, running their own business, problem children, and only ride maybe 6 days a season instead of 50. I have had tons of fun the last several seasons riding with complete strangers, you're always gonna find a few tools if you know what I mean, but at the end of the day you can go separate ways. I had a great ride with some 20 year olds a few years ago, when I took my helmet off one kid said, "You ride real well for someone who is so", then he stopped. I said "Old, bald or gray. He said,"I was kinda thinking all the above". When we were done riding I said, "I'm going drop that cornice one more time then head out, thanks for the ride and have a good day". As I left one smartazz said,"DON'T BREAK A HIP!!"

found may guys to ride with this way and many are now good friends. the single best thing you can do to help pick groups to ride with is be up front with your skills, gear and riding style. as for age we even ride with some guys in the late 60's and the 25 year olds have a hard time keeping up with them. in this sport age is not a bad thing.

Who said he had to pay? Just come ride, we started out that way and still pick up ppl here or there in our group. Our company takes groups out and rents built sleds for customers to try out. One guy coming from long ways away is welcome any time...

I play parking lot roulette a few times a season. Been interesting--I have ended up with great rides, and also riding with guys who think trails and meadows are the only thing to do. Nice guys for the breaks, but not what I want to do while moving.
The better trolling results are when I venture out to areas where I know people go, and link up with similar skills/mindset people. If you are in the terrain you want to ride nearest the parking lot, you have a better chance of landing the right style of rider, than watching people in the parking lot.

Funny Story this year. We had just left the parking lot with my 25 yr old son, my normal ridding buddy and me, had a younger guy come up and asked if he could ride with us. His ridding partner had his sled go down and didn't want to venture to far by himself ( smart thinking ). We rode most of the day and had a blast till my buddies pro lost a cylinder ( again ). Wouldn't hesitate a bit to have some one new come and ride with us again. Fred

Most people do not venture off the highway far enough to find our parking lot. When they do, we consider them for adoption, lol. We took a new guy on this season, playing parking lot roulette, and he in turn brought an old groupie back. Where we ride you can sit in the meadows, play in the trees from wide open to seriously? Or you can rip some sick high alpine stuff if the conditions are safe. We do not leave people behind. You can choose to follow into the more difficult terrain or hang on the easy stuff. We are pretty much all old and gray but dang we still have fun. Pretty good road trip from where you are but if you get to SW CO I would hook you up any weekend, all winter. I have done so for a bunch of out of staters over the years.
