New Member, Alaska

I've decided to join this forum after lurking for a while and getting good info. I ride a 1996 Summit 670 that has a few quirks that I'm working out. My old faithful machine is a Polaris Indy 500 SKS. Thanks for the forum.

So a little more about me, I am 36years old and live in Chugiak, Alaska. I'm fairly new into snowmachines, but grew up on dirt bikes and enjoy doing mechanics. I started with a 1993 Indy 500 that a friend gave me, and the first year I swapped to a newer Xtra 10 skid with 1 1/2" paddle track, and put a newer front suspension with Fox shocks on the front. It rode pretty good until I tried to change the clutch without a puller and ended up with a broken crank :) I pulled apart the motor and changed the crank, all the seals then had it bored and put new pistons in it. It runs really good now.
I traded a gun for a 1996 Summit 670 earlier this winter. It has twin pipes and some clutch work done to it. The first time out with it the rotary valve quit, turns out it stripped the gear on the crank. I had a buddy pull it down and replace everything so it is basically a new engine. I just got it back on the trail after putting in Powerjets since the HAC has been removed and I am tired of jetting. I'm still getting it dialed in, it runs good but seems to flood out when I try to start it and its hot.

Welcome to the forum. Must me soooooooo must riding there. Just make sure to watch out for that pipe line :)

Those indy 500s go forever. You should keep it as a backup.
