New lodge in Caribou Hills?

Has anyone heard about a new lodge opening in the Caribou Hills somewhere near Caribou Lake? Do you know where 42nd Lake is?

Read your liink. Sounds like he described Moose Horn Lake. I just asked the wife about it and she knows the owners of the new lodge and knew all about it. She will can them later and get more details. Btw, she didn't tell me about it til I just asked LOL.

Hey! There is a new lodge opening up in the Hills, did you hear about it? Glad there will be some options this winter, Rockys opened back up this weekend also, so I heard.

Soooo... do you know how much it cost me to get Curt to leave that stuff out of your order?..it was alot...but damn it was worth it...just couldnt have you getting your sled done before me.....:D

Ok, the wife just called and talked to the owners parents. Yes, there is a new lodge open down there. There are on Moose Horn Lake just to the south of Caribou Lake. They said once you hit Moose Horn Lake, their place is obvious. They will have both food and FUEL! Lets try to help them get off to a good start.

I've never rode in the Caribou Hills before, is there a map of the area? If they have food and fuel I'm assuming they have a pretty good trail heading in?

Thanks

Yes there are great maps of the trail system of Caribou hills. Most of the toy dealers here in the Soldotna area carry them as well as the map shop across from Fred Meyer. They are map of tyvek type material and last forever.

Here is a link to the clubs site.

Moose Horn Lake eh? I can't find that on any of my maps, but we must have been close as we were only about 4 miles from Caribou Lake coming in from East End road.

BTW the riding was pretty good. There is enough snow and enough base to get around quite well, even enough snow to jump deadfall and boondock without too much concern about hitting stumps. If the weather had been better today the riding would have been great.

One more good snow!

Is this Moose Horn Lake?

Brook, Yep that is it. The trail that runs out to east end from the old lodge usually has a well beaten path headed that way as there are alot of cabin back that way. Same for when you come of the west end of Caribou lake. There are grommed trails (sno-mads) That head around the Island of trees and heads back toward that way. Great boondocking to be had back that way generally. Then again you know that, not that far away from your Dads place. So many storms stall out on that side of the boxcars that we never see up here on this end. No fire damgae either and less beetle kill.
