New Intro with survival advice

S
My husband and I live in Western Nebraska. We mainly ride in the Snowies west of Centennial, WY. We have spent a night in a snow cave in the mountains. My husband lost part of a toe and had a major skin graft on another. We thought we were prepared, but we found out we weren't. Don't ride in the mountains without at least 2 sources of fire, a shovel, food, water, extra socks and gloves, av probe and beacon. DON'T PANIC is the most important rule to remember. Let someone know the approximate area you will be riding in. The mountains are a great place to ride, but be prepared.

Welcome! Great advice you have given. :)

I know I get laughed at sometimes because of just how much I pack along, but it's also gotten some people out of jams, and if we did ever have to spend the night, we'd be ok.

Same goes here...my friends call me "Mom" because of all the stuff I bring. That said, it doesn't slow me down and we all know I carry enough emergency gear to pull an overnighter if we had to.
