new GM pickup questions

I just bought a Cummins 5.9 with the 4 speed. 2007 model. bought in late November.

There are still some around. Have never owned a dodge in my life but have relatives and friends with this model. They made them until about 3/4 through the year 07 before they started making the newer motor.

Why, did I choose this one?? Great, I mean great mileage the best. and very tried and true engine and decent trans now. I have just over 10,000 miles and no problems at all.

I get 20-21.5 mpg on the highway at 70 mph. Drop to 20mpg at 80 mph empty. Towing my enclosed 2 place snowmobile trailer 4wd and all that get 16-17 pretty steady.

Lowest combined mpg is 15.9 in snow 4wd short trips in storms, no crusie control on.

Love the Duramax set up but mileage just won't do it for me. The Ford well I won't tell you my experiences on these since it will start a war.

I am really enjoying this truck, if you have a good dealer around you might take a look. Has great power and torque and towing ability, but isn't the overall fastest in the field stock.

Good luck

Thank everyone for your input! The Dodge back seat is a little small. What years of the Duramax seemed to be the best overall? I am leaning toward late 06 or 07 with the newer engines. How are these years?

Thanks everyone! I ended up buying a 07 duramax. So far I am very happy. Pulls like a dream, on the same hill same load before with 460 ford gas 2nd gear 3500 rpm 40 mph-duramax
5th gear 65 mph 2200 rpm. towing geting twice the milage with the duramax.
Thanks for the help

I have an 08 6.0 2500 with the 3.73, you want the 4.10 without question if you're going to tow with it. Just my .02

good choice, if you got the old body style, you would have the lbz motor which i beleive has more power and mileage than the newer lmm
